My Mum is 72 and has always got on very well with the simple Nokias, so not the smart phone versions, they confuse her! Just the normal, older type ones, they're probably only about £30 now, really simple to use and to text from.

I was talking to my Nana about this at the weekend as she wants a new phone. (she's 83) She likes my i-phone4 as she really wants to take pictures and use a qwerty keyboard, but I don't think she'd use half the functions so it'd be a waste of money. Thanks for the link Kat, I'll have a good look at it. My Nana's pretty impulsive and I really don't want her going on her own and buying a mobile as she'll spend a fortune, not understand what she is getting and end up with something unsuitable. She somehow blocked my mum's number from her current phone - though she is adament it wasn't her but the phone company!! - and when I was trying to sort it she told me the phone came with no instruction manual and no box, which I can't believe. Hence me wanting someone with her when she buys a new one.
