So I booked somewhere which is a great size and they have a sound system which is easy to use (its basically a CD player but linked up to their speakers so it won't be echoey. So its 2 rooms, upstairs room is for toys, games and dancing and down stairs is for food and bday cake.
this is my current plan, can anyone tell me if it sounds ok
decorating hall with balloons and banners. In the baby area there's going to be a big '1' balloon and its going to be cordoned off. There is a big mat, a ball pool, sponge block things, a mini slide. There will be 8 1ish year olds and 4 under 2s.
in the main area there will be the '4' balloon, toys for there are, some cosy coupes, a garage, a giant connect 4, a slide and a soft football with 4 cones.
My plan was play for a bit with music on (if anyone can recommend any songs then great, I have 2 CDs but will be making a cd of songs iyswim), then a few games, then downstairs for food and cake, sil will then tidy up downstairs whilst we have some more dancing/playing upstairs then home.
is that ok? Food wise I'm doing sandwiches, pizza, wedges, cheese and onion rolls, crisps, cherry tomatoes, cucumber sticks, carrot sticks, and maybe a fairy cake or something.
party bag wise they are having a bottle of bubbles, a yoyo, cake, haribo, and a party hooter, is that ok?
any other tips. O and I'm doing it all on my own (well sil and h helping but I do use that term helping loosely) so am I mad thinking I can put a but if music on, have a chat with people for a bit, do some games, then food, then kind of mingle again?
O and what's the deal with pass the parcel, is it pass a present round, and when the music stops you are out or is it pass a present round and when the music stops unwrap a layer? Hs family put sweets in each layer too, I'd never seen that before!
promise this is the last party question

All sounds good. I do pass the parcel where you unwrap a layer, and all parties I've been to have a sweet/choc in each layer. Music wise I got Justins album and its actually quite good party music. Added a bit of Jessie J, some C Beebies song, other chart hits and the mickey mouse hot dog song and it was fab :-) food sounds great too. What you doing for drinks? Last year I just put a jug of diluting juice and jug of water out, wasn't forking out for cartons or fruit shoots lol

ll sounds great. Have a couple of pass the parcels going, not just one. There will be mums to help the unwrapping. I would put a sweet of some kind in every layer and you could do with a mum helper or someone to make sure that the music is stopped for every child to get an unwrapping

Sounds like a fab party to me! Maybe give your H and SIL specific roles beforehand - e.g. put H in charge of the music then he can do the music for the party games etc, and one of you can keep an eye on L's friends and one of you can split yourself between the under 2s and helping with L's friends. Party bags sound good too x

Sounds good. Re pass the parcel, as you are having qutie a lot of children I would break it up into smaller groups (max 10) as otherwise the children get bored. When music stops unwrap a layer, everyone here does a little packet of sweets in each layer and obviously you manipulate it to make sure everyone gets a go. Top tip from me is to do the last layer in a different paper so you know when it is coming.

It sounds great. Re pass the parcel I would either have everyone in a big circle with a few parcels going round or a couple of little groups so the kids don't get bored. I've always done it, when the music stops you unwrap a layer and there is a sweet in each layer.
Music wise I would go with something like Now 83, J's nursery teachers had that on for their party and it seemed to be songs the kids new and liked to dance to - think Gangnam Style lol. It would do my head in being at a party for 2hrs with childrens songs on but maybe thats just me ha ha.

We buy the latest Now CD for each of Zoe's parties. Always seems to work well, she doesn't really know any children's songs though so might be a bit unusual on that front.

It all sounds fine! When we did our sons party I over planned things (too many games!)I would just stick to pass the parcel, musical statutes and let them have a really good run around. Lots and lots of balloons. Also my 5 year old has the pop party cd and loves it (It is a cd/DVD) and only £6.99 in sainsburys now. The now that's what I call Disney is on offer too xx
