I've just found out that my sister and her fella have split up They've been together 8 years and have 2 kids. She's surprisingly cool about it as she's been unhappy for a long time but secretly I don't think it's actually hit her just yet. Anyways I can't have her being on her own on Sunday so I've invited her & the girls, plus mum, dad and brother to ours for a buffet on Sunday. I say buffet as we don't have room for a sit down meal for all of us.
I'm thinking a ham and beef joint, a potato dish & salad with breads, dips & crudites. Maybe sausages or sausage rolls for the kids and plenty of Cava for me and my little sis. Does this sound ok? Any suggestions for other foods that can be made in advance?

Pasta salad? Quiche, Pizza? I always do ham in coke for parties/buffets in the house.
Your poor sister, were they married? How old are the children?

Girls are 6 and 19months, not married, engaged but didn't get any further than that.

Yeah he's moving out today apparently. They've just signed a years rental on the house too, it seems amicable atm but who knows. Poor sis x

Poor sister. Sounds good to me. I always do a big sausage plait, pasties, egg and bacon pie, quiches. I freeze some bits and then cook them up in the morning. Xxx

I awlays do a cooked ham served cold, bread, new potatoes, cous cous, salad etc. sliced cheese and lots of cake. Basically people end up making sandwiches. Your buffet sounds lovely. Your sister is luckly to have you.
