We have a neighbour across the road who is a nightmare for free stuff, I was redecorating my lounge curtains didn't go with the colours anymore and she asked if she could have them, kinda put me on the spot, these were pretty expensive curtains, and so I did give them to her, I then put a Fb that I was decorating my hallway and getting my carpet pulled up for wood flooring in a couple of weeks, she then pmd me to ask if she could have the old hallway carpet for her house because she doesnt have any, I had to say no vecause it was ruined by a leaking washing machine ages ago, but our houses are set out diferently and it wouldnt even fit her hallway anyways.. I have just put up a status about cleaning out the under the under stairs cupboard and bet she will pm me soon asking!
I also did her a favour and gave her son my old car, I was going to scrap it nothing wrong with it but some damage down one side so no one would want it, but his was stolen so I gave it to him for free!
I only ever hear from her when she wants something, like if she needs a lift and my partners home!
Tell me I am not the only one with a neighbour like this! God that feels good to rant haha

I've not got any neighbours on FB, but we are not friendly with them so can't say that I know them well enough for them to ask for stuff. I'm in a grp on FB that does free, for sale or wanted stuff and people always want stuff for free on there. I advertised some CD shelving units really cheap and had no takers, but within minuets for putting them for free they were gone.

Its silly isn't it, I like taking bits down to the cancer research shop I feel I am doing some good that way but its ridiculous that everyone wants something for free on those sites I don't use them for that reason and just donate to charity instead now cant be doing with them all lol

I can laugh because she isn't my neighbour, but no thank goodness I haven't! No harm in a bit of neighbourly give and take but sounds like she takes the biscuit. Then again I have a mum at the school that's always askin to borrow money from me. I've said yes only once out of about 20 times, yet she still insists on asking!

No there isnt anything wrong with a bit of give and take but its always take from her, I also know she got a garden chair and table set from another neighbour!
Oh my god about the lady asking to borrow money I would never be able to ask that, some people are so cheeky!

That was my thoughts Cc, I posted on here I was so shocked. It's practically a weekly thing now. Best is she uses my pet hate, she asks can she "lend some money"!! Grrr it's borrow, I'd happily let the lend some, but she wants to borrow!

Stories like this always make me laugh in a kinda way as it would never in a million years occur to me to ask my neighbour for their old stuff! And i can't imagine them asking me! I'd be surprised if a friend asked me tbh as I just wouldn't expect it How odd.

I know exactly what you mean! I wouldnt ask either! But second hand carpet? Esp as we have a dog that we got from a puppy age so coukd of had accidents on it... its just strange!

My next door neighbour does this. He asked if when I loved I was takign the garden furniture with me and I said yes. He then said if I didn't want to he would have them! Err no I'm keepign them. He ahs done it with other stuff as well. Then if I do offer them anything they take it with a sigh as if they are doing me a favour!

How blummin cheeky! Theres one thing if your throwing it but to ask about stuff in your property is another! Love the little sigh as if they are doing you a favour id rather take it to a charity shop lol.. when they say anything say oh it will be going to such and such shop you can buy it from there lol

This just reminded me of a time years ago when a friend of Mum's was replacing her hall carpet and told Mum she was having it to "get rid of that old hall, stairs and landing carpet you've got, cos my hall carpet will do your whole lot!" Mum was like this but the friend has form for this kind of bluntness! She even sent her H round to fit it! Thankfully it was a gorgeous carpet, but Mum wasn't getting a choice in the matter anyway!
