Has anyone moved in to a new build on time????? We have been told May at the earliest, however when we went to pay our deposit last week the guy said April. We won't have the money by April, so was curious if in your experience, expected build dates are early, in time or behind schedule??

Well our place in Cape Verde was meant to finish last year. Its a year behind schedule due to a change in the finish euro per sqft. No exp over here but once they start building they pretty much fly up.

Mine was about four months behind schedule (2002) hubs was also four months (2007). Depends on the weather really!

Our new build was already built by they time we moved in, but the company still managed to drag there feet and make it slow. If it is ready in april just get your solicitor to drg it out.

We've had two new builds one was ready about a month early and the second bang on schedule. Mostly the builders want them finished so they can get their cash.

Bang on schedule so far. Roof is due to go in next week and the building should be watertight within three weeks (weather dependent). We are due to complete in March. We went to the site office today to choose tiles and the ladies gave us an update.

We completed a week early. Once the roof is on you shouldn't have any delays really.

3 months late here and that was a complete building! You can delay it all you like hun - everytime you are due to pay something or get paperwork to them, take a few dyas longer, it really will be fine x

Ours was about 2 weeks late from the date we agreed, can't remember exactly. This was because of a specific problem (they'd built it without a kitchen window!!!) I think in the early days, they may have said late July, then we agreed mid August, and we actually moved in at the end of August, it all seemed quite flexible though. Are you part exchanging with them? We were and it seemed quite easy, but if you're not it should be even more flexible for you.

No we aren't part exchanging, but buying without a chain. I hope we have enough time to get the rest of the deposit together. We are saving like mad and every pay day we are saving "x" to make the final amount of "y".

I'm sure you will be fine, and if you have a plan, you can give them the date you are working towards, and likewise, so can they. They will be used to people delaying for house selling etc. remember too and so should appreciate that on the whole you are really flexible!
