P's birthday is Thursday (how?!?!?!?) and she is having a little tea party for her grandparents, great grandma and a few uncles etc on Saturday.
It's at 2pm and i'm not sure what food to do. I think people will probably expect some nibbly/finger food.
She'll have her cake (my mum is making a giraffe cake!) and i'm going to make cupcakes. I also thought i'd make some cheese straws...what else savoury wise? I was wondering about doing a couple of big plates of nice sandwiches or would more picky things like saussage rolls etc be better do you think? Pretty uninspired and i'd like to make things where possible.
For some reason i'm having a total mind blank and doing an online shop tonight so need to think!

Oh i love cheese straws. Can you make a sausage plait or sausage rolls too? And quiche is a good call i love quiche. And sarnies - cute little bridge rolls or crustless triangles likeaafternoon tea. Yum!

Was going to suggest the bits above, but if you prefer to make too how about something like the lentil and cheese wedges from Blw book? I love them and its quick and easy too...plus whatever isn't eaten can do P for meals? Jacket potatoes and various toppings? Hoe about wraps instead of sandwiches?

What about crudités with houmos? Or other dips?

Ahhh brilliant ideas ladies. Quiche is a particularly good one. I'm making a list as we speak!

How about bruschetta? Chicken fingers? Wedges?

We did something similar for F's birthday a few weeks ago. I decided not to bother with sandwiches as I've found that they always get left at parties so I did the following:
Crisps (including 'healthier' crisps and nibbles for the LOs)
Breadsticks, pitta bread fingers, carrot and cucumber batons with a selection of hummous, cheese spread and salsa)
I think that was it. I think I also bought some mini pizzas and loaded potato skins ready to cook if everything else got eaten!
