I already know this is what needs to happen but I'm struggling to do it. Mostly because of C I think.
we have had our cat for nearly 5 years. He has never been overly affectionate, and like most cats spends his time dping what he wants or sleeping!
When we moved in to PIL he came with uswe it within weeks he started doing weird things as he must have been unsettled. Since he has scratched at everything, carpets, wallpaper, furniture etc. obviously this was awkward as its not our house that he is destroying. Lately a new having has started. And it's unbareable . He crys constantly. All through the night, at around 5am is especially bad. If he gets no reaction from the crying he starts scratching at doors and the wallpaper. If we let him out he cries on the doorstep to come in. If his feed him he eats then cries. It's like having a newborn!!!
I've taken him to the vets to make sure there isn't anything wrong medically. They suggested he was anxious so we bought these plugs that give off calming vapour. it did calm him but its not a long term solution. He isn't a pet anymore he is a royal pain in the bum. So once agai. We are thinking of getting him rehomed. I feel so guilty about it, I can't bring myself to make the call!! And C adores him, although I can't have him destroy our new house just because of that!!!
No real need for a reply, just needed a rant xx

We had to do this with our old cat sadly, she was turned into a proper headcase once O was born and was weeing/pooing on the floor too....I tried everything I could and then we had to get her rehomed....I couldn't have risked it once O started moving. Thankfully as we had got her from a rescue in the first place the lady said she'd take her back, and we've since heard that she has settled well in her new (child free) home.
You are doing what you know is right for your cat at the end of the day - if he isn't happy at the moment then getting him rehomed is the best thing xx

Ah coco your post has made me feel so much better about this!! I'm glad it's not just us, the guilt is Killing me. I've already started prepping C about how it's lovely to share, and we need to share Cokey with another little boy. He seems happy with it at the mo!
