I would just explain to her that money is tight and you can't afford it.  Tell her that if she has a night out at home you will happily go out and celebrate with her.  I think its a bit random that she hasn't invited your H, its different when its a boyfriend.  For my wedding I didn't invite one of my good friends boyfriends and she was fine with it, they hadn't been together long and had split up a couple of times in that time.  We just invited him to the evening reception, she was fine with it.

Is she being petty not inviting your husband or is no one's other halves invited? How are things between you and her now? Tbh if not inviting your H is tit for tat then I'd have no hesitation in saying you can't manage to the hen do. Sounds like you two could do with having a clear the air chat though as it sounds like your friendship has suffered a lot recently

SW - Thats what upsets me, that she wasn't fine with it and instead just didn't come and see any of my day. Who could do that to a friend? A good friend at that!

The thing with these situations is, she was probably thinking those same words when other partners were invited and hers wasn't. Right or wrong, she was hurt and you were hurt.

Perhaps she knows but doesn't want to face that her partner is a jerk and going without him would have really forced her to face that, and that she's treated differently to the others. As much as you mean to her, it might have been just too hard for her to put a brave face on that.

Do you see you two repairing your friendship in the future?

I agree with SW, I'd use the cost as my reason for not going.  The important thing is you do intend to be there on her big day, and TBH I think £300 for a hen do is rather a lot!

I think you need to separate the two issues. It sounds like she isn't a very close friend and so being asked to go to a hen party and spend £300 is not unreasonable to decline.

Personally I wouldn't pay out £300 for a hen do even if it was my best friend as I couldn't justify spending that kind of money. Is there a part of the hen you could go to or is it all or nothing?

With regards to the wedding I wouldn't make any decisions until the invite has actually arrived as you might of both been invited.
