Originally the planned moving date was 11th April. Now the 15th April has been proposed. I find out this afternoon if we will be moving on that date or the later date of 23rd April. I'd add a voting function if I knew how to do it.... You must vote by 5pm today and I will update after that
ETA I may allow this to run until tomorrow afternoon to build suspense

I want it to be the 15th, but going by what my luck is like, I'm going to say 23rd, but I don't want it to be!

Winterflower - my, you are a ray of optimism bundled up in a bag of good luck aren't you?
Frankie - I was prepared for the 11th. Not fully packed but not far off it, although will panic at the last minute...

This is based on the problems we had when selling my late father's house and yes I am a bit of a pessimist

What caused the delays WF?

The buyer using a rubbish online solicister. Have you exchanged if you have and you are just completing, your solicister can write and say if they don't complete by such and such date there is a financial penalty. My solicister had to be quite arsey as did the estate agent.

The last time we moved we used a solicitor that wasn't local to us and it ended up being a costly and time wasting mistake. I don;t know ANYONE that would recommend that firm, once they had used them once. We were waiting upon everyone to agree to an exchange of contracts date. I got my estate agent to get involved last Thursday and everything seems to be moving more speedily now. I wish I'd rung her to get involved earlier.

I'm voting for 23rd. This is based on my experience of moving.

One of the things that happened was the buyers solisiter lost her morgage offer/ said they had never received it. However fortunately she had her mortgage via the estate agent and they had evidence that they had sent it to the solister they were also able to send another copy. The online firm of solisters only did anything when given an ulmighty kick up the backside by my solister and the estate agent. We came close to pulling our of the sell which until you exchange you can do. The other thing which our solister explained was that you can exchange and complete on the same day. Although normally exchange contracts and then a couple of weeks later complete, when you hand over the keys and the money is transfered. Our simple sale, where we weren't buying just selling a house and the buyer was a first time buyer with a mortgage in place could have taken 8-12 weeks took over 20 weeks.
