C had a Chinese dwarf hamster called Vader. He died, and I had no intention of replacing it, so got rid of the whole cage set up. It was 6 months until he noticed the hamster had gone. Of course, he was then distraught...

RIP Yoshi. When one of my guinea pigs died the other one was really upset (it seemed) for a few days but then kept going for quite a while. We did get another one after a while and the old and new got on.

With our first 2 GP's one died then the other a few weeks later.
Could you introduce a new one?
We have 2 at the moment and the kids just love them.
It took about 8 months for A to notice the fish and tank were gone when the last goldfish died.
