I've joined this website as I'm hoping to be offered some much needed advice/thoughts from individuals who have experience with pregnancy. The dreaded Google search has led me in every direction possible and the queries never quite 'fit', so I figured this website would be a good place to ask for some advice on what I've been feeling.
Just to introduce myself, my name is Katie and I'm twenty three. I'm not a mummy yet but I've been feeling very suspicious (in a good way) that a little someone might be growing. (I apologise in advance that I do not know any of the shortened versions of phrases i.e. I believe there's AF...Aunt Flo?)
My last period was the 19th December and I'm usually fairly regular, 28-30 days. Quick maths will tell you that my next period is not even due until next week. Normally I would not even try and pursue the idea until a missed period but this time it feels...different.
I can only compare to how my body normally reacts/feels during my usual cycle. Normally, I have standard PMS symptoms no more than a week before - Breast tenderness and mood swings usually! I never get cramps unless I am hours or minutes from having my period.
However, at the moment a whole host of symptoms have erupted. I will try and list the majority -
It all looks quite daunting now I have them all in a list! No sign at all of any nausea or vomiting though which I know is a key symptom in most women. And I am also lacking the 'I just feel pregnant' sensation that many women report. I do feel that something is different but my gut instincts is telling me that it's not pregnancy.
I know it is too early to test so I was hoping that some of you could be so kind as to share your thoughts. I thought about testing with First Reponse tomorrow (being 4/5 days before due period) but I read the statistics behind their claims and decided against it.
Could I be? Or perhaps just a particularly enhanced PMS symptoms?
Apologies for the extensive thread and hope I have posted in the correct place.
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!
Thank you x

Hi Katie, welcome to the site.
Many pregnancy symptoms mimic our monthly cycle symptoms leaving us guessing but you are correct in that some of us know because we just 'feel different'.
You're symptoms could well be the sign of pregnancy (though if you are desperately wanting to be your body can also mimic the signals in what they call 'phantom pregnancy'). It can be torture playing the waiting game whilst desperate to know but the longer you can postpone testing the more you allow your hormone levels to build and the more accurate/clear a result you are likely to get (ideally waiting until 7-10days after your period is due).
Whatever your result you will find lots of lovely ladies on here willing to share their experiences with you. All the codes can be found somewhere too (try searching codes/abbreviations for newbies). Best wishes and good luck.

How exciting! With 2 of my 3 I just KNEW I was pregnant - I can't even put it into words - I simply FELT I was - with one of them, almost straight after conception - odd, but true. Bizarely, my cat also knew - he would behave very differently towards me during each of my pregnancies - in a protective way. At first I thought it was in my mind but when it happened with each pregnancy........freaky!
