Anyone else in the south east on a snow day?? The roads around here are horrific. I managed to get home last night before it got too bad but i know so many people who had to walk miles or were stuck in their cars. My brother had to abandon his car and walk 12 miles to a travel lodge where he got the last room left. My friend took 2 hours to drive 5 miles with her 1year old in the back with cars sliding around and several people bumped into her. I work in a rural school down loads of lanes, we are open as we have boarders and staff in site but most outside staff and kids won't be in. No way am i attempting the driv to mums to drop P off, she lives out in the country side i'm not risking getting stuck with P in the car. My Dad tried to get to work and turned back again
So snow day it is! H has gone to work as he cycles in and his bike is quite good in the snow. I don't think there will be many people in though until later. I have some coursework to mark but don't think P will be much help with that!!

Wow I didn't realise it was that bad anywhere. We haven't had much snow where I am but it is bitterly cold with the wind. The forecast says it will feel like minus 5 for the day. I don't think we'll be going very far once I've got J from nursery at lunchtime. Enjoy!

I'm at work in Central London. Probably had a couple of inches fall in North Kent overnight but not enough to bring us to a standstill. Central London is clear but bitterly cold.

We've had snow here (NE Essex coast) but it's now turning to ice on the roads where the snow has been compacted. I haven't heard from my H yet so I'm hoping he got to work ok.
Blimey AR, didn't parts of the country had bad snow.
We've had a light dusting, nothing news worthy. Yesterday, there was bright sunshine and snow.
The snow in the East Midlands has pretty much cleared now, just a little bit left, and a few flakes fell on my way to work this morning.
I just saw your pic on FB of your mini snow drift, looks and sounds like you've had a fair bit down there.

It is absolutely freezing outside! I was t the doctors with J at 7:30 this morning. This weather is doing no favours for my cold! Our roads are pretty good thankfully

I think we are the only bit of the country to have it. There have been hundreds of people stuck in cars overnight, awful. H has got to work and there is only one other person in! I'll try and upload my mini snow drift photo...

Was hanging clothes up in the lounge this morning and noticed my breathe coming out as steam! We have a good layer of snow again. It snowed all day yesterday and has compacted on the roads but hopefully some of it will clear today.

We've got snow here. Its still swirling around. We've probably had a couple of inches at the most. I think its hit Kent, East Sussex and West Sussex the hardest this time.
My daughter is off sick from school but her school is open.
My Scottish friends would consider this nothing but then they had a foot and a half of snow arrive in about an hour in January.

It is gorgeous out now though - all white and sparkly in the sun! I was working at home today anyway so thankfully didn't have to brave the trip to the train station in the blizzard this am. H is annoyed because his school is open (well, was for a bit but then made the decision at 10:00am to close). Luckily we can always get the kids to the childminders (next door!).

Yep - we are having a snow day. L's nursery called me just before 4pm yesterday to warn me trains out of London to Sussex were delayed so I left work early. My train was actually on time BUT the 8 min journey from the station home (via nursery) took me 3hrs 20mins. All the roads were totally gridlocked. L was very good - moaned a bit, then drained the battery on my phone playing games, and gave his dad's a good go too. He fell asleep in the end as was almost 8.45pm by the time we got in! Didn't even attempt the journey today but went out just after lunch to take H to the station (he has a job interview that can't be rescheduled) and the roads are clear now. This was our back garden this morning though!

Yep, snow day here too. I got stuck with C in the car on the A25 between Westerham and Oxted. The roads were awful. I know the highways people said they'd been out gritting and were well prepped for the snow but I was driving on sheet ice from Polhill all the way home. One of the roads I tried my car just couldn't get any traction and I was sliding about all over the place, had to turn around and go a different way. I panicked a bit at one point because I was running out of ways to get back to my town as the main roads in were all blocked by jack-knifed lorries. Got back over 3 hours later than I normally do, stayed put today because the roads around me were all still blocked with people who'd had to abandon their cars and walk home. Crazy how badly the snow affects us really.
