Everyone brings their children up differently,as Sym says, and sometimes you can bite your tongue and say nothing, other times you want to scream. I wouldn't bother with this friend as much, she sounds a little silly.
Sometimes I think giving children constant junk is almost as bad as straving them,as in long run the effects are devastating. My boys were very chubby until 18mths,they still eat very well, but have lots of exercise and 90% of time eat very healthily(put me to shame actually) just hope no-one thought I was giving them wrong diet

totally agree with your rant!!
we saw a wee girl in town sitting in her buggy, her mum had bought a bag of mini sausage rolls from the bakers-she handed the poor thing the whole bag, and she started stufing her face with them! needless to say the child wasnt the slimmest i have seen!
im not sure why some people feel the need to just let kids eat that amount of food-its obscene. as audrey12 points out they will pay for it in later life-any mother who truly loved her children wouldnt want them to go through that.

I agree! People just don't realise the long term damage than can be done.
Years ago my mum knew someone who started weaning her baby son at just THREE MONTHS OLD!!!! she said it was because milk just wasn't satisfying him. I think she must have been crazy! There's no way his little tummy would have been developed enough. I've known him all my life and he was always a big kid but now he's in his 30's, he is morbidly obese, he suffers from angina and he is diabetic. He can't even walk across the room without getting out of breath.
And it doesn't end there. This guy's daughter was weaned too early as well. She has just turned 6 but to look at her you would think she was about 12. She just stuffs her face with chocolate, crisps, cakes and sweets and she thinks nothing of eating an adult's portion of food. She is not just big she is freakishly big!
I think there's no excuse for giving your child junk food whatever their age. These days there's more information than ever on nutrition, what's good and what's bad. I don't hold with the 'can't afford fruit & veg' excuse either. My monthly income would make you cry but I always make sure my lo has a healthy balanced diet with plenty of fresh fruit and veg even though it means scarificing new clothes and nights out for myself. My lo and her health, wellbeing and happiness are the most important things in the world to me.
