Due to rapid weight gain in the last 3/4 weeks (due to me eating crap!) I'm on a kind of detox this week (my own kind!) where I've completely cut out bread and potatoes, I'm drinking my full quota of water a day, eating fruit for breakfast, salad for lunch then a normal tea (without potatoes), no snacks, no fizzy drinks (can't give up the tea but have cut down to 2 cups a day) I'm tipping the scales at 10 stone and my ideal is 9 stone 7. I'm hoping to lose 2 or 3 lb this week. Do you think this can be done? I was supposed to be exercising too but have a full on snotty bunged up cold coupled with a chesty cough I've had for 3 weeks now I just can't face exercise. I'm forcing myself not to weigh each day, I weighed yesterday and will weigh again Friday to see how I've done. It's killing me watching H eat crisps/biscuits in the evening and I'm sat there drooling! But I'm being really strong!

I hope so Kellfi, I always find the recent weight kind of drops off me, then I get stuck around the same sort of weight (9stone 10ish) until I seriously try to lose it to get to 9stone 7!

How long did you keep it up for Belle? I'm not planning on doing it as rigidly at weekends, will still have wine etc but I thought I might keep it up in the week for 2 or 3 weeks until I get totally bored!

I went from 12stone in July to 10 stone in November with 2 summer holidays thrown into the mix. I did it slow and steady with 1-2lbs loss a week. When I started exercising I'd find I would gain initially then lose again.

I don't think I could keep it up indefinitely, I'm not a massive salad lover and I am actually feeling hungry all the time! Maybe my appetite will adjust. I don't like fruit that much either. I'll probably just do it for a couple of weeks to kickstart it off then gradually re-introduce other foods in moderation. I'll be asking for your advice on maintaining at some point as that's one thing I always always struggle with.

The first week of a diet is normally a really good loss due to water retention. I would go for 2lbs this week!
Well done you. I have to say as I have lost weight my appetite has definately decreased.

Mine has decreased loads. I only had 225g steak on Saturday, I'd notmally have at least a 300g plus starter sides and pudd!

That's good to know, I've always had a big appetite, I'm looking forward to feeling less hungry soon.

Good luck - who knows it could be as much as 4lbs being your first week! But like th others said you in theory need to lsoe slowly and steadily at 1-2lbs a week. But good luck again

Thanks QI I know I need to lose steady and realistically I'm just trying to kickstart it as it wasn't working me just cutting down (I wasn't sticking to it properly!) I'm hoping that by being a bit more drastic, it'll reduce my appetite quickly so I can make long-term changes to my diet.
