My best friends SIL had her baby girl 7 weeks early on Saturday. I said i'd crochet a blanket, as I am keen to practice.
I taught myself a new "technique" yesterday, and finished the blanket today.
My friend said they have gone for a pink and yellow colour scheme...
I then decided it looked plain, so looked up how to make flowers, and added a couple of those.
I am loving all these babies that are being born lately. H thinks I could make them to sell, but not sure about that. This blanket cost just under £5 to make, and took around 9/10 hours, so not sure how I could price that up. Any ideas?

It's fab, do you think the more you practice you'd get quicker? In terms of selling I mean? I'd have a scout around Etsy and FB for an idea of how much people charge for similar. It is lovely well done! x

It's gorgeous, the flowers are so cute. You could definitely sell them, can't believe how quickly you made it!

It's so pretty! Are you going to consider doing this alongside the buttons??

Thank you ladies.
Weekender, I definitely get quicker, the more practice I have. This was my first attempt at this kind of design, so I was learning as I went along. Also, depends on the size of the blanket. This one is quite big, so obviously, smaller blankets won't take as long.
White Sparkles - I was thinking about adding them on to my button boys page, but one of my friends makes crocheted blankets too, and I don't want her to feel I am stepping on her toes. Especially as she charges £35 for a blanket like that, without flowers, and there's no way I would charge that. I don't want her to think I am trying to out do her, if that makes sense?

Thats lovely, well done you.

see what I was thinking was to work out an "hourly rate" sort of thing, to price it up. You've done a fab job of it!

That's really lovely. If you can make money out of your talent then why don't you? Crochet is a big seller in the baby prop world, hats, nappy covers etc. I pay anything between £5 and £15 for newborn crochet hats. You only have to look at the shops on Etsy to see how popular it is.

Hmmm that's a difficult one. I'd still be tempted to if it were me, yours are different to hers with the detail on them anyway.

I may just make a few up, and sell them with a small profit, rather than custom orders. That'd take the enjoyment out of it I think. My friend does custom orders, so I'd be doing it a bit differently.

remember the pp/dw for sale board on FB, you might get some orders/sales that way x

They're lovely blankets. Crochet is so fashionable now.
Good idea to try selling some and make a bit of money back from something you enjoy doing.
