do you do it?
Are you neighbourly?
I've just taken an Amazon courier delivery for our neighbours and I wish I'd had the nerve to say no. It's for the neighbours who have the broken gutters that drive me mad when it pours with rain and it bangs onto their wheelie bins, and their dog that they leave to bark all day. Wish I'd said I was going out. Now I'll have to have a fake smile when they call round for it.

I can understand why you find it annoying but try to think of it as a favour that you may need them to return one day!

I used to, until I had a falling out with my neighbours.

I do it but I did get annoyed a while ago as my neighbour's daughter was ordering a lot of things through her mum's Next catalogue without telling her and they were always being delivered when no-one was home. It got to the point where the delivery driver barely bothered to knock on their door before handing over to me!
The other day we had two deliveries arrive on the same day, by the same delivery company but not the same driver. One was for us, the other one, which had been chucked over our back gate, wasn't for us at all and was actually for the people who live over the road.
On the other hand, other neighbours have kindly taken in parcels for me so it goes both ways.
Carole, you should mention the guttering when you see your neighbour. You could put it subtly along the lines of 'I know someone that repairs guttering, I've noticed yours is broken'

I aren't in during the day to do it. If I was at home then I would.
I'm the annoying neighbour though who has parcels left at our neighbours house. They are lovely though, and they don't seem to mind. I will be sending them a nice card and maybe some chocs or a bottle for Christmas to say thanks.

I would if I was in.
If I can, I'll get parcels delivered to mine or MrDDs work so that we don't have them trying to deliver when we're not at home.

I'm not in but would do it. Loads of lovely neighbours take mine for me. I'm getting parcels almost daily at the mo so am very grateful!

I do on the very rare occasion I am in and my retired neighbour isn't, I think it's only been once in 6 years! She does take loads in for us, I always get her something nice for Christmas in return.

I would but I'm never in, I'm the neighbours who others have to take parcels for! I'm always very grateful when they do as it makes my life so much easier.

I am always in so I take in parcels for anyone, doesn't really bother me and we have lovely neighbours, I have had neighbours take in things for us too... just think it's a nice thing to do.. I guess it might be different if we didn't have nice neighbours lol!

I'll take in parcels if I'm in and they have done for me in the past. Its a pita if they deliver when you aren't in and the stuff has gone back to the depo, I love it when the card says its been left with a neighbour so I don't have to rearrange delivery. Its not very often as one of us is usually in.

I always do, I’m normally the only one in so I get quite a few. Just leave them by the door and wait for people to come round. Doesn’t bother me at all!

I do, and people do it for me.
This has made me think - if you take in a parcel for someone, do you pop round with it later on when you can tell they are home or wait for them to come and collect it ?

I often take parcels in for next door and really dont mind. I know they would do the same for me. If i see them pull up outside i usually catch them before they go in but if not i tend to wait for them to call round for it.

If we've got one we'll probably try and get it back to them. If nothing else it means we won't be disrupted at a time we're busy doing something else :)

I would do and have done in the past. But our current neighbours tried to scam us out of £100 by concocting lies about work done by our freeholder, so they've squandered any neighbourly goodwill now.
01/12/2013 at 18:47
well they've not called round for it, despite being in and playing loud Michael Buble music most of Saturday afternoon. It mustn't be that important. Not taking it round on principle. I'll wait for them to knock.
01/12/2013 at 20:42
They may not know you have it carol. Several times neighbours have dropped parcels round for me that I didn't know had been delivered as no delivery note had been left by the delivery man.
02/12/2013 at 09:35
the courier assured me they would be sent a text.
I knocked on the door this morning at 8.30 before the school run and handed it over.
