I have just seen a potentially ideal job for me to apply for. It's a full time position or job share should there be two suitable candidates. The hours cover weekdays, evenings and weekends.

I would particularly be interested in job sharing only, to be honest, I haven't a clue how this actually works in reality. Do you work the same hours each week or do they very? I can understand them maybe varying when the other person is on holiday for example, but in terms of arranging childcare some sort of regularity would be good for the majority of the time.

Does anyone here job share? What are your experiences?

    Thanks.

I job shared when I returned from maternity leave. I did the same hours each week. we had a couple of hours overlap, but pretty much did half each.

I hated it, as it was "my" job fulltime before ML and I didn't like how my job share did things!

If it was starting out from scratch, I guess it would be a different story.

What sort of job is it?

I job share. So i work Mon-Weds and my job sharer works Weds-Fri so on a Weds we are both in and clear any backlog and do a handover. We do the same hours each week. We also occassionally call each other on our days off if there are any queries. It works really well.

It's a receptionist position, which is where I started out when I left school and something I feel I'm used to. It's also literally 5 mins walk from home and nursery is en route. I've no idea about the money but it's more for me getting a bit of independence back I think.

I work in admin and when I came back from ML with E, I did every other Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, so the following week I only worked Thursday and Friday.

My other half was a girl who already worked in the office and we didn't have set roles, it was just everyone picked up everything.

I'm guessing this job would be similar SW, in that we'd just pick up where the other left off. I suppose the days would depend on what the other person wanted to work too.
