Can be about anything you want. I've got a lunch today with one of my managers (I look after 4 Senior managers) so this morning is dragging. Coupled by the fact none of the others are in and I have a stack of business cards almost as tall as me to enter into Outlook, I'm avoiding!

I'm so bored as well, its dead again in here, I don't know what's wrong, I've never known it be this quiet.
I've been in since 8am and it feels like it should be about 2pm, not only 10.23!!!! I haven't even got lunch to look forward to.
I'm losing the will to live.

Let's have a natter then chick.
What is it you actually do? Job title and what does your role entail? I'm an assistant to 4 senior managers (partner, managing director and two investment directors) for the UK deal team of one of the worlds largest private equity companies. UK deal team basically look at all investment deals or buyouts within the UK. We have numerous portfolio companies under our belt, most famous being Formula 1 and Merlin which floated recently on the stock exchange. I look after the diaries of the 4 guys, extensive diary management, probably takes up 90% of my day, board packs and travel management the remainder.

You seem to get loads of perks working for them which is good although you do long hours don't you?
I work in Admin for the local council, my department is Community Equipment, we deliver equipment to help elderly/disabled people be independant in their own home - so the likes of walking frames, commodes, pressure nursing equipment etc, I take all the orders for equipment for health professionals. We also issue disabled parking badges.
Thankfully I only do the 2 days and only work extra when I need some time off, like next week I'm going to work on Wednesday so I can have Friday 19th off. My manager is pretty flexible, I get good holidays and flexi time, the money is pretty good for the hours I work and most of the people are nice so I don't bother looking for anything else even though its boring.

im a client services executive
i work for a company that processes loans, debit cards and credit card portfolios.
we manage the computer system all the big banks use, and i look after 2 foreign banks, any questions on the system or the processing of the cards/payments etc comes through to me.
it can be from something as simple as why did a new card get sent to a wrong address, to why was this interest calculation out by 1p
its very broad and no 2 days are the same

SW - Yep I do work long hours 8.45am to 6pm 5 days a week, but we do get good perks and once Louie is at school it will get easier. We're much better off financially now and once we stop paying nursery fees even more so. I got such good money in my old job for the hours I did I struggled to find anything remotely close when looking for part time.
I temped for 6weeks at the Department for Health in the Older People Services division, we'd get letters asking for help with the kind of things you organise.

When you can see the benefits you don't mind.
Its a good job really, sad and depressing at times. Like today we've sent out some equipment to a woman 41 who's dying and we gave a blue badge to a girl I went to school with who is dying as well.
On the flip side, you get to meet some lovely, mostly older people who come in to the office and you here some great stories and the odd time you do get someone who kicks off, like last week, the most horrible bloke came in with his wife and started kicking off on one of the temps, I had to tell him if he wasn't going to calm down and stop slagging us off then he would have to leave the building and we wouldn't do the badge for his wife.

I'm currently sitting on my sofa watching this morning.
I got a lovely bouquet delivered from my boss this morning which made me smile.
For those who don't know, I'm going through my second miscarriage in a row at the moment, which is utterly shite.
29/11/2013 at 11:16
Rod I'm so sorry for you sweetie, I really really am. Have things progressed yet? That's lovely of your boss x
29/11/2013 at 11:17
Oh Rod, I didn't know about the miscarriage, I don't know what to say, I'm so sorry seems a bit inadequate
29/11/2013 at 11:19
Nope still waiting, I'm getting some cramps, so hoping its soon, I'm sick of waiting for it.
Thanks SW I'm just over it now and want it done. X
