I've just sent the relevant emails to my local university to start the health visitor training course!!
I must be mental - I'll be as popular as a traffic warden

Oh lord no you won't be - I am so pleased to hear this My next door neighbour is one and she is normal. We need more normal people to be HV. Hurrah I say

Totally agree with QI! Well done, you will be the renegade HV going round providing sound up to date advice!

Thats what I hope Alsi. My HV's with Ethan were terrible, but the one I saw on my 'new home welcome visit' this week was amazing spent an hour discussing every aspects of both child, reassuring me on development, holding off weaning, not worrying that she doesn't sleep through etc etc. She was the one who convinced me to apply, but if I can be anything like her I would really love the job. I just hope I can do it justice.

You will be fab. It is good in a way too that you have experience of a bad one and a good one if you see what I mean. How long is the course?
18/10/2013 at 21:44
That's fab, I think it would be a great job

1 year full time or two years part time. Part time is only one day per week though - so if full time is only two or three I would consider. I just hope that my work experience is relevant enough for them
18/10/2013 at 21:56
Ooh, that sounds fab!
18/10/2013 at 22:14
Yes it sounds that if you could manage it full time it would be better. Keep us posted about how you get on.

Wow fab news. The HV's I work with are just about human!
19/10/2013 at 08:17
I think you'll be fab, we need more HV like you. Good luck!

Fab. Good luck.
My HVs have both been amazing. If i'd have had a dodgy one, I wouldn't have stood for it.

I met mine last week and she seemed lovely! It's like anything really, you only hear about the poor ones. You'll be ace!

Thanks everyone for the vote of confidence everyone! Hoping its something I can do well - I think its more confrontational situations that worry me.
AK - unfortunately my rubbish ones were at a time when I was too depressed to do anything about it - even more reason I want to do it

that's great news. I love my H, well actually she is no longer officially my HV as Luke is now 5 and at school, but we still see each other.

I think you'll be a brilliant HV, one of the good ones I was so fortunate to have one like that x
