...how often do you have one and what do they do? Also what do you pay (especially those in south east as i suspect prices vary!).
I'm fed up of being left with the sh*tty jobs. H helps around the house but tends to do the jobs he likes and ignore the others. I have been asking him to do the bath and shower for 3 weeks and gave in this morning and did it myself. He apparently doesn't mind the grime but i bloody do! Plus i'm fed up with spending my weekends doing housework when i'd rather be with P. We're moving to a bigger house over next couple of months too so it'll take longer once we have.
I have just told H we are getting a cleaner when we move. Apparently he thinks i'm joking but i'm bloody not!. I was thinking of maybe someone to do a deep clean once a fortnight then just doing bits and pieces in the mean time. Or actually if that's a false economy and it's better to have someone once a week for less time?

Ive not had a cleaner for a few weeks and it's killing me having to get the girls to do it and do it myaelf. She used ti come on a monday for couple hours and would polish dust and hooved throughout plus clean bathroom inc mopping floor and clean kitchen inc mopping floor. Then all we did during fhe week was top up the hovering and wipe bafhroom and kitchen over.

I used to have a cleaner when I worked full time. She did 5 hours a week which included the cleaning and the ironing. We paid her £9 an hour

We have cleaners that come once a week that do 2 hours but there are two of them. We pay £32. Best £32 I spend all week. They do the whole house top to bottom (4beds, 2 baths), de-grease the range, hoover throughout, dust, clean all bathrooms and do a basket of ironing. Happy to send you their details.
I would much rather spend the precious time I have away from work enjoying my time with my family than cleaning. Plus i suspect if we did it ourselves (well, I say we, but my H would end up doing it because he has more time than me) the whole house would never all be clean at the same time. If you can afford it its a no-brainer to me!!!! My H was really anti it to start with but now he wonders why we never did it before!!!

We pay £14.50 an hour for 2.5 hours a week. I have a 4 bed, 3 bath and she hoovers, mops, dusts, polishes cleans all 3 bathrooms incl shower screens etc. We do very little top up cleaning in the week. Kitchen gets wiped down obv and we may run the hoover round the lounge but that's it. I provide all products and equipment.
It's expensive but it just wouldn't get done otherwise

My dad owns and Mom operates cleaning companies. What people tend to do is pay for x amount of hours and standard jobs plus leave a list of extras if time allows. Mom won't iron while dad will but it is taken away and charged a 75p per item returned on coat hangers. Bedding £3-5 a set.
Standard is what everyone describes, surface wipes, hoover, dust and polish, bathrooms etc. Extras that some pay for or is left as a list for any spare time: window cleaning, carpet cleaning, washing up, oven and fridge cleaned, some pay for tidying though that's limited. One old lady pays to have her washin hung. In our teeny house I can do the standard stuff within an hour if I'm left to it. It's the non standard stuff that's the issue.

I have a cleaner come for two hours and she dusts, polishes, hoovers, mops all floors. Cleans bathroom and kitchen and all surfaces. I pay her extra to iron H's shirts too. Best money I've spent I think as the pressure is off to do all the jobs that take time, I can just top up in between as I go along. Like you I was getting a bit fed up of having to do everything. H chips in occasionally but makes such a mess I'm always picking up after him.

We used to have one, she would come once a week for 2 hours, sometimes there would be 2 of them and do one hour. They would dust, vacuum, mop floors and clean bathroom and kitchen surfaces. It was £25 and I provided the cleaning chemicals. It was lovely to come home to a whole clean house, rather than do a few rooms at a time. I live in the south east and we have a 4 bed and 2 bathrooms

Our cleaner does 2 hrs every 2 weeks (4 bed, 3 storey house). It isn't enough for her to do a thorough job but I basically want her to hoover the carpets, clean the wooden floors, do the kitchen and bathrooms. General dusting I can keep on top of myself. Because I don't work I don't want someone coming in every week as I don't like being in the house so it forces me to go out which can be a pain. We used to have someone 3 hrs every 2 weeks and that worked brilliantly but we have economised.
I have also found that it forces me to keep the place tidy as I don't want her wasting time tidying rather than cleaning.
We pay £10 an hr but that is in Yorkshire.
