My 10 yr old Son (soon to be 11yrs) cannot get his head around how to tie his shoe laces and i'm really struggling of how to help him/make it easy for him to learnt how.
Do you think at 10yrs of age he should be able to tie his own shoe laces by now? someone I work with has just posted on FB about how her 7 yr old has mastered his shoe laces and I feel so sorry for A not being able to do his.
At the moment because he gets so frustrated about not being able to do them he always insists on us buying shoes/trainers with straps so he doesn't have to deal with them but I really want to get him motiviated and master it, i'm just stuck of how to go about this.

How are you teaching him? Are you doing a rabbit running round or anything to help him memorise it?
Yes I think ten is a little late BUT the average age for doing things is an average meaning some will do things early some late.

I know, I do feel at 10yrs he should of mastered this already, although he is birght in some aspects, he also lacks in others, i.e. he only learnt how to ride a bike last year, but mastered it with 3 days.
Not heard of rabbit running around?
Have tried it with him having his shoes on at the time, with him not wearing them, on teddies with soes/shoe laces...

We used the bunny ears thing and also just sat and went over and over on each others shoes. 10 is late imo so i hope the rhynes help him and he gets it quickly like riding a bike.

Try the rhymes. 80% of my class of 7 year olds couldn't do them last year. So I'm sure he's not alone. It's a generation of Velcro.

My Grandad taught me when I was about 6/7, I know it was before we emigrated when I was 7.
He taught me to make two loops then tie them together then I got confident and did it the "normal" way.
He also taught my brother that sugar on your salad leaves made them taste nice so he did have odd ways of doing things!!
