For anyone that can remember, at the start of the year my grandad was diagnosed with bowel cancer. Further investigation showed he'd also got in on his liver and some bits on his lung.
Well since his treatment has started, he's been doing great, he's had two lots of chemo. He is having it in the tablet form so he's getting to take it at home rather than go into the hospital for it. He's luckily had no side affects really, and is looking better than he has done for ages.
He went back yesterday for a follow up appointment, he's been having his chemo in blocks of two weeks with a week off in between. He's now being changed as he's taking to it so well so that he's having two weeks of chemo tablets, and two weeks off the tablets. They had a holiday booked at the end of the month for turkey, they were worried that they would have to cancel, but the doctors have told him he can go, and he should be fine. He will be able to coincide his two weeks off the tablets with his two weeks of holiday.
They've told him that whilst they'll possibly never get rid of it completely, there's no reason why he can't carry on how he is doing, he will get re-scanned at the end of the month after their holiday to see how much it's shrunk but so far the blood tests are showing positive signs that it's reducing.
I'm so pleased, it's like a whole weight has been lifted off our shoulders, and whilst we know he might still have a long way to go, there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Thanks everyone, i'm also getting my nana back too, she went into a depression when they first got the news, and in fact i think i was more worried about her than i was how my grandad would cope, but she's getting better too. She went to the doctors who gave her a mild anti depressant and it is helping. I'm just glad they can get to go away. My grandad has always been a sun worshipper, and whilst he won't be able to go and lie in it for hours on end, he'll be able to go off and relax and enjoy himself, and hopefully take his mind off it a bit.

That is great news. My mom has fought breast cancer twice now, but I unfortunately lost a friend 3 years ago yesterday to cancer, it is such a horrible thing to deal with. My mom has only recently got over it and the breast care nurse was saying how much research has come on over the last few years is amazing. Lets hope they find a cure for it.
Hugs to you and your family and hope your grandad enjoys his holiday
