H is at the park with L. He's just called to say a dog jumped up and licked L on the face and now L's face and eye are swollen. He's given him anti histamine and is keeping an eye on it. Poor bubba is without a doubt allergic to dogs.
FFS a kids park, why have your dogs off the lead? Assholes.
I took L to A&E last night. Got home and his eye was far to swollen for my liking despite H saying it had gone down. Doctors have prescribed antibiotic eye drops and to continue with Piriton. They checked it out properly to make sure no hairs were in the eye. Doctor said he's hypersensitive to certain things - what though we do not know. I'm going to speak to BUPA today to see if we can go for testing.
Poor bubba x

That's terrible, poor L.
I hate bad dog owners, dogs should be on a lead!
02/07/2013 at 10:52
Oh poor L, don't get me started on irresponsible dog owners! Hope he gets over it quickly.
02/07/2013 at 10:53
Oh no, poor L.
I guess dog owners often let their dogs off for a run round the park, but they should be more careful when there's people around - especially with big dogs and little kids. Dogs aren't allowed in the kids bit of our local park, it's all fenced off separate from the big field fortunately.

its when they say 'aw hes jsut being friendly! erm you mutt has jumped inot my babys pram, my baby is screaming and you are justifying it that hes just being friendly grrr

I hate irresponsible dog owners, I am a dog owner myself and am always constantly looking around too see if i can spot anything that will attract our dogs attention, basically hes nearly 2 and still very puppy like and so we spot things and get him back on his lead before he can spot them.
I would never let him off the lead in an area with young children, he loves children but hes still very playful so he's in your face a bit and I wouldn't want him doing that too a child! People like that make me so mad!

H taking L doctors as eye not changed at all despite anti hist.

Oh I am sorry to hear that :( Hope they can sort it out :(

That's crap Belle, hope it settles down soon.
It definitely seems that irresponsible owners hugely outweigh the responsible ones nowadays - it gets on my last wick. Neighbours who don't train their dogs not to bark and then either leave them ALL DAY EVERY DAY (and the dogs dont seem to stop for breath - so looking forward to mat leave!!) or occasionally do nights shifts and the b*satrds literally bark the whole night long (other side). And then in the park, the 'he wouldn't hurt you' crew and you're thinking 'well yes, maybe not, but he's effing covered me in muck'.

Let us know what the doc says. Poor L.
02/07/2013 at 12:53
Poor L. If your dog is well trained I think it's ok to let off the lead bit not if its liable to jump up. Only yesterday I posted on fb because I'm sick of dog crap on few pavements round here. How much effort is it to pick it up? Place has loads of poo bins so no excuse.
On the out of control dog front- we often have issues when riding the horses out. Only last week I was walking mine up the lane and this dog was outside the driveway of a big house as started running round my horse barking. Owners couldn't catch it. Now mine is good around dogs but even so, probably would've booted the dog!

Aw, thats rubbish, let us know how he gets on
02/07/2013 at 12:58
Poor L Belle, let us know what the doc says. I think it's out of order dogs not being on the lead in public places where people are around, some people might not mind their kids being licked in the face by a dog but most parents don't like it! It does irritate me too when the dog owner says 'he's only being friendly, he won't hurt' that's just no excuse!
02/07/2013 at 13:09
Poor L. Hope he's ok. my dog is one of these dogs that has the potential to lick everyone. We keep him on his lead or we take him somewhere quiet where he can't cause mayhem.
02/07/2013 at 14:52
What did the doc say x
02/07/2013 at 14:56
Any update Belle?
02/07/2013 at 16:46
He's slept for a good few hours and his eye has gone down now so H never made it to the docs.
02/07/2013 at 16:54
Aw I am glad his eye has gone down, been thinking about this all day!
02/07/2013 at 16:55
That's bad! I would be so angry. Hope L is ok!
02/07/2013 at 17:18
It might be worth still contacting the drs Belle - I know I might sound over the top but allergic reactions can get worse over time and he needs to get in the system to have protection in whatever form arranged for him. I know I'm a worry wort but if it didn't seem to go down until much later it might be worse next time IYSWIM? I'm glad he is okay now
