I bought a wee box of Rhubarb & custasweeties sweets from M&S today, the ones they keep at the checkout. After I'd eaten most of them - it's only a small box so prob only about 10-15 sweets in it, I noticed there was a warning on the back - "excessive consumption could cause a laxative effect". Well they're not wrong, I've been in and out if the toilet for the past hour and my stomach is making all sorts of weird gurgling sounds. I Wouldn't consider one box to be excessive but I'm never buying the bloody things again!

Poor woman! Not surprised though, lactulose (for constipation) is a form sugar. Those sweets are full of it - at least you're not now...Over consumption of mints can have the same effect...

I'm sure I've eaten much more than that before with no side effects like this! The box wasn't that much bigger than a matchbox!
1st baby I've never noticed that on polos before.

The sugar free ones are the worst as it is whatever they replace the sugar with that causes the problems. I once bought a big bag of sugar free sweets off ebay when I started WW and within 10 minutes of eating a few I smelt like a field of cows - infact I made my children cry because of the stink.
Definitely steer clear!
