First I find out C's shoes are coming apart - it's the second pair of Clark's doodles we've bought for him in the last month, the first pair did the same thing - the side bit is coming away from the fabric. They'll be going back for refund this time! Just need to find somewhere else to get him some shoes from, most places seem to have really narrow shoes at the moment which are no good for his wide feet.
Then on the way to work up the motorway a stone is flicked onto my windscreen and makes a lovely crack - fortunately it's the passenger side, but it's a good inch or more in diameter, and is spreading a bit! Need to get my insurance docs when I get home tonight and get it sorted out (I'd ring them now if I could remember who it's with, I think I stuck with the same company last year but can't remember, damn my crap memory!)
Hoping whatever the third thing is it is something small!!

Bugger, why do things going wrong always cost money. Try brantano for shoes, I went in at the weekend and they'd got a pretty good sale on. I got E a lovely pair of black shoes for £7 down from £24

Oh no deedee! I hope things get better. We had those Clarks shoes and they didn't last long at all.

oh no :( hope your day gets better!

S's grew out of his clarks shoes after about 3 weeks, I bet he didn't even go outside in them 5 times because the weather was crap.

Thanks for indulging me!
chids - yep, I think that's one of the places I'll be looking, we've got another cheapish shop locally that has a fairly big range my Dad has reminded me about too I can try.
WS - I certainly expect more than 2 weeks wear out of them, in fact he's not worn them that much because it's been raining so much! We bought some cheap Sainsbury's ones last autumn along with sensible Clarks shoes and they lasted really well, just a shame they don't have anything that will fit him at the moment.

Urgh hope your day gets better

Definitely take the shoes back.
Did you do the insurance online? Would you have an email confirmation somewhere?

Cedar - that's the first thing I checked when I got into work, but the last insurance I did online was 2 years ago which makes me think I just renewed it last year. I might check their website to see if there's an area I can log into though.

one of these windscreen repair companies is always advertising that they can repair cracks for free without you having to contact your insurance - i think they do it all for you - is it autoglass?
hope the rest of the day is better for you

I think it's going to need replacing unfortunately - it's only £10 excess for repair or £75 for replacement through my insurance so may as well go through them. Looking at autoglass website they claim through your insurance anyway, so I'm guessing I'd have to pay the excess at some point either way.

I had my windscreen replaced a couple of weeks ago - autoglass are my insurance company's preferred supplier, the insurance docs said just to liaise with autoglass directly. I just put my insurance co's name onto their website and they did the rest.
And that's rubbish about the doodles - 2wks definitely isn't enough wear! C's had hers for about a month now, the silver is rubbing off the clasp, but they seem to be lasting otherwise....

BW - I've just rang via my insurance and you end up speaking to someone at autoglass going through all the menu's. They're coming Monday, and it does need replacing, boo!

Oh that's a pain. I had 3 massive cracks on mine, so knew immediately it would need replacing. It didn't take anywhere near the 90-120mins to fix that they quoted, and the bloke was lovely, so was v happy all round.

They're coming to work anyway, so it doesn't matter when they come or how long since I'll be in the office all day - it's been a few years since I've had any windscreen damage but they've always been good in the past, just a pain getting these things sorted isn't it.
