I need some new summer and holiday clothes. I'm going to go shopping in a couple of weeks but don't know what I want really.
I don't want to buy loads of clothes that I can only wear on holiday. I want summer clothes that I can go to the park in or sit in a beer garden or just popping into town.
Today I'm wearing a pair of white Next linen trousers, a navy vest top and gold gladiator sandals. Yesterday was a pair of denim shorts and a navy and white striped vest.

I'm wearing a smart navy shortish (couple of inches above my knee) dress, with a pair of burgundy high heel shoes.

I've never understood the whole holiday clothes concept. I wear what I wear on holiday at home, it's all the same, just maybe cheaper clothes I don't mind getting suncream on.
I too need to shop though as nothing fits me. I want shorts I've seen in H&M 7.99 a pair and loads of colours. Boob tubes, again H&M 3.99 a pop. I've got a playsuit and a maxi dress already. Linen trousers wind me up as they get creased so easily. Oh I also want these http://www.dorothyperkins.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?beginIndex=1&viewAllFlag=&catalogId=33053&storeId=12552&productId=10592806&langId=-1&sort_field=Relevance&categoryId=945856&parent_categoryId=945765&pageSize=20&refinements=category~[945868|945856]&noOfRefinements=1
Today I'm wearing cropped trousers, black with white polka dot spots, a black square neck vet top and black patent court shoes. I'm at work!

Denim shorts and navy blue vest top. Yesterday was a long green skirt from whistles which has orange specks around the bottom and an orange strappy vest tomorrow is my uniform

I'm wearing a bright green top from next which is a vest with a daisy crochet type top over the top of it, black jeans and my birkenstocks.

Belle its different for you lot down south where you get lovely hot weather, I'm on the NE coast and its never boiling so stuff I would wear on holiday like strappy dresses or dressy shorts and tops can't really get worn a lot here.
I don't wear maxi dresses as I think they make me look pg but I've been liking the long skirt look so might try a few of those on.

I think we've all experienced cr@ppy weather this year. But what I mean is you said you want stuff you'd wear on holiday and here - I'm the same I don't just buy something for holiday, I make use of it and wear it here. If I wouldn't wear it here I wouldn't buy it just for holiday. Does that make sense?

Today I'm wearing my dark blue skinny jeans, leopard print ballet pumps, and a pretty chiffon top with butterflies on. Yesterday I wore bright pink skinny jeans, black see through vest top

I never buy anything specific for holiday, iv got kaftans and bikinis and things like things to wear too and from the pool/beach and sarongs that go up in the loft when I'm done but I wear my shorts/strappy dresses here if (!!) we have the weather. They all look brand new though as I rarely wear them

Ah you see if I see a nice dress for my holidays I would buy it specifically for my holidays because I know it wouldn't get much if any wear out of it here but that's what I need to stop doing. I need to buy stuff that I can wear here and on holiday.
When do you get too old for a playsuit? Are they even still in fashion? What type of summer dresses do you all wear?
04/06/2013 at 12:51
You are NEVER to old for a playsuit! I love them. I'm selling two on eBay that are to big for me from last year. Gutted as I really loved them. New Look is good - have youseen any you like?
Summer dress I tend to wear maxis or fit & flare. I love pretty little strappy dresses but have to be careful with boobage.
Iv bought one from
Matalan eek! It's a day one iv never had one but I'm
A bit thinner this year so thought stuff it lol

I haven't been looking so haven't seen any I like. I don't know if I see them as clothes for young uns as E wears them but I might give them a try and see what I think.
I can't wear strappy dresses as I also have big boobs.
I'll give New Look a try and I might give Matalan a try. I find Matalan is very hitty missy, sometimes you'll go and there's loads of stuff in but other times you go and there's nowt.

Yup agree with that statment. I've just looked online and seen some loovely bikinis but need to try them on.

Black trousers, a silk top which us purple pink and turquoise and a black cardi as it is freezing at work.
04/06/2013 at 13:08
When we usually go away I rarely take anything that hasn't been brought for holidays. Generally then I'll wear that stuff all summer and until next year's summer holiday, when I buy more.
Today I'm in white linens and a blouse type frilly top. I'd be in a nice summery dress if I could be bothered to shave my legs!

I'm in a skirt with little pink and peach flowers and a thin short sleeved beige knitted top. That was for work. I'm about to change into cut offs and vest top & sweater as I'm off climbing soon.
Other than sarongs or bikinis I wear all my holiday stuff in the uk too. I layer up or add thin cardis / jumpers to strappy dresses if its a bit chilly.

Black cropped jeans, black vest top, Hello Kitty Dr Martens.
I don't "do" summer clothes, and I sure as hell don't do sandals..
I have about 6 pairs of black cropped jeans, which I wear all year round (just with fugs, or calf high Dr Martens)
That's what I wear when on holiday too.

I'm too hot, I've got on jeans and a short sleeved checked fitted shirt on, with a strappy vest underneath and had my converse on . I was at work today though so get dressed at half 6 when its a bit chilly!

I don't get the not buying stuff for holidays lol. I can't imagine lounging in my garden in a sarong, beach pull on maxi, bikini or short shorts!
