We are having ours redone, I'm getting rid of the radiator, and a door way put into the garage as thatl be the playroom. its cream at the moment.
I want wooden flooring at the bottom of the stairs I think then carpeted stairs and landing. I want it bright but with a lot of traffic in the hallway I need something that won't get manky like the cream walls have done.

Dirt colour with a very good splattering of hand prints.
The orginal colour was like a warm sand / plaster colour.

Ours is filthy! L peeled off loads of wallpaper whilst on the naughty step too
We thought wooden flooring for the bottom as it easy to sweep/mop.

I love wooden floors. We stripped sanded and stained all our downstairs when we first moved in. Then got carpets laid when L was crawling.
What about a blue or green as a colour, wipeable so easier to clean.

I have wooden floor in the hallway and the walls are cream/dirty. I like keeping it neutral as you can pick up cheap cream paint and I normally do it every few years. Need doing now. I have brown carpet and some duck egg accessories

We have wood flooring in the hall, very easy to clean, with a pale sand coloured carpet on the stairs & landing. Our walls are pale gold, which look great but show marks easily. It does make it look nice and light though.

Thanks all. Was thinking of green and a green striped carpet for the stairs. But would love to see the gold and the effect on the walls as it sounds nice.
I think wooden flooring is the way to go.
Someone is drawing out plans as having the garage turned into a playroom and a kitchen extension and Id quite like a very small porch where shoes can be taken off straight away iyswim

We found parquet flooring under the manky carpet when we moved in. The hall is painted a light brown/beige colour and the carpet is a similar colour. Wooden flooring is the way Togo, I couldn't stand wheeling a muddy buggy onto carpet when walking in the house

Mine is a very light greyish/purple-ish/dirty handprint colour with a grey carpet.

Ours is pale green with white gloss work/hall table/mirror/photo frames.

Ours is various shades of dusted moss by dulux. We have a dado rail so have a darker shade of the colour below the dado and a lighter colour above. Its great - dado rail is brill because even where the bottom gets scuffed you can just repaint the bottom bit! We have cream carpet but are looking to replace it with karndean art select in the downstairs hall when we do our rear extension.

Our stairway is just the width of the stairs so has to be painted white otherwise it would be very dark. We've got a striped brown, beige and raspberry red stair runner carpet with stripped wooden stairs and flooring. The runner is extended upstairs in the landing. At the top of the stairs facing as you look up from the ground floor is one narrow wall painted a dark raspberry kind of colour. The aim was that this drew your eyes upwards. I just wash the walls every now and again to get rid of the hand marks. Downstairs its really just a lobby so no space. Its Victorian.
It was only when we had the space fitted for the carpet that we realised that the doorway at the end of the upstairs hallway is not in line with the turn at the top of the stairs. So the carpet had to be adjusted to allow for this.

Not a hall way but an idea - I'm thinking of doing this in our play room / spare room but it could work for a hall

Ours is cream with brown carpet. Very original.

Hey, it really sounds interesting but it reminds me the stairs that I had currently installed in my office design concepts
Hope any one of you like it!! :) :)
