I until recently had my current account with Nationwide and really liked their online banking but disliked the lack of interest. I am moving over to Santander's 123 current account. You have to pay £2 a month for the priviledge which I always promised myself I wouldn't pay for a bank account but the interest rate is good plus for your direct debits you get money back and as it turns out I will get more than the £2 back a month - if that amkes sense?
The kids currently have bank accounts with Virgin money. So who do you bank with?

Barclays, never really had a problem with them. And just had an £8.5k PPI claim back from them with no arguments!

Nationwide, H was with them when we met and had his mortgage with them so we've just stuck. Never had a problem.

I was with Barclays as a child and hated them. I did love Nationwide and loved their online banking. But they weren't helpful when it came to getting the mortgage

First direct, they've always been great. I pay £15 a month but it's worth it for us as we both get mobile phone insurance, breakdown cover and travel insurance which would cost us more than that a month if we took them out separately.

Barclays, never had a problem to be honest. Where I live there's only a choice of 2 banks Barclays and HSBC and although we do most of our banking online, I do like the fact I can walk into the branch to pay cheques in etc.
