FFS. I've just had a FB conversation with someone about a Footmuff and adapters I am selling. I can't understand what she is saying to me.. I get the gist, but its written stupidly and it gets right on my nerves that people write like this.
HER- With it go with pink I think of get that colour or purple x
(then I reply asking if she wants it delivered)
HER-If that ok with u if u can x
What the footmuff do does in go into lined x
ME-What do you mean? Do you mean can the top be zipped off to make it into a seat liner? Then, yes it can.
HER- Yh that it x
Wtf?? Is it laziness or something? Is it the fashion?

Missing letters on her keyboard? A bit odd and frustrating!

Laziness & perhaps a lack of education, or a job where the written word isn't needed? Some of that can be attributed to typos but the rest is simply poor English. I hate it when people put 'I could of' rather than 'could have'. And the one that really irritates me&i have to stop myself from correcting people is when they say 'can I have a lend of...' When they really mean 'can I borrow...' Or 'can you lend me'.

I had to delete someone from fb because I could never understand what she meant, I didn't know her that well, she was a friend of my daughter. My English is not perfect and I make a lot of typo's but bloody hell it took 10 minutes to figure out one line of a conversation.

Crikey that was hard work! I've seen similar, but that was particularly poor.

I've seen a lot of that around on FB. Drives me insane.

I think a lot of it is laziness!! Drives me bonkers when people write using text language, or just make up a whole new version of english because they can't be bothered to write properly.

is she a cretin?
13/03/2013 at 10:28
erm, reading that back, i'd suggest english maybe isn't her first language?

I hate it when people write like that, it's so difficult to read and I can't make sense of what she's trying to say!
Even in texts I usually spell out all the words apart from a few really obvious ones.
I'd agree with bluewater

I do think its laziness rather than her lack of english....

There was someone who I went to school with who's FB statuses made no sense. Ever. Much like the person described in the original post. Maybe it's her?

I really sturggle with being comprehensible, especially when I am stressed. The words will make sense to me but not to others. I used to get the Ex to check my work for me but it is something I haven't got anymore so worry about it. So I do wonder whether people assume I'm thick or lazy.
I can remember a post like this years ago and I couldn't see the errors and Ex was horrorified. For once I am glad to say I CAN see the errors in that

My housemaid texts better English than that (she's Filipino). That's bad BUT she could be foreign so even though it's frustrating, she might not be able to help it...

Reminds me of that line from Nemo: "It's like he's trying to speak to me, I know it! You know you're really cute, but I don't know what your saying!"

Love it haha!

the sentence structure and word order to me read like english is not her first language, however if she *is* english, she's got no bl00dy excuse, and is just lazy. i hate text speak outside actual texts!

reading that was hard work
