Hi, I am so sorry I haven't been here for a while but I am after some advice, on my way to work tonight my h phoned me and told me that our little boy had been sick, which is really not like him, he also has some pre existing medical conditions and when get ill goes down hill really quickly, when I arrived at work I told my manager that he hadn't been well and asked if my H rang again could I leave, to which he replied 'can't your H man up and look after himself' I was utterly go smacked and had to fight back the tears, now I don't know what to do, confront him when I next see him and say how inappropriate I think he was or take it higher, I was so gobsmacked, I wanted to explain that I would only go if my h was taking him to the hospital.

Mmm not a particularly supportive boss it would seem but I suppose trying to see it from his side it depends what the situation seemed like to him. Did he just think your son was sick and that he was with your H without knowing his background? If so then I suppose he maybe meant does it take two of you if he is just a bit unwell? (his choice of words are out of order however).
If it is the case that he doesn't know the background then I would definitely take the time to explain to him just why you were so concerned and why you would have to leave in those circumstances.
If however he knows already why you would immediately be on edge then he is an @rse.
How is he? I hope he is feeling better, it is awful when they are ill x

I was so upset I spoke to him directly, he apologised and did say he forgot about the medical conditions, he said he meant it in a joking manner and was sorry it didn't come across this way, M is ok, sleeping soundly now!! Lovely, thank you for your replies
