Cos I can't! He's been 'ill' and II use the term ill very loosely in the past week he has had TB, meningitis, chest infection and maybe he's a carrier of rare disease like some monkeys [wtf!], anyway yesterday he phoned my work and asked whether he should come down, he felt awful, so II told him to take a lemsip and guess what, yes! All was fine. So I kept getting texts that he felt weak, had forgotten what day it was, he felt even weaker than he had done, he then said he almost collapsed (I phoned him and basically he says he stood up, felt hot so sat down again) so I told him that wasnt a collapse! will needs to be forced to take pain killers! Sao I came home from work last night, done his temperature, fine, listened to his chest, fine, gave him paracetamol and brufen and kept hen started making a funny noise sort of cough/clearing his throat and asked if I thought that was meningitis! Anyway he's used up an emergency gp appointment today to basically have the gp tell him its viral (I told him last night), fuming he used a gp appt for this! Anyway he's now as fit as a fiddle! been for a run! Grrrrr!
Anyway I know it sounds harsh and yes he probably felt like crap but FFs staying up to watch a film and eating a load if chocolate are not the actions of a dying man, neither is running round the garden with Isaac upside down, and neither is playing football/going swimming with both boys!!!

I did send him quite an abusive text telling him to get off his lazy ar5e and get the house tidied and kids tea made! He was 'ill' right up till he seen the gp (although us just sitting with a lemsip again) so I'm waiting for it all to start again!

I'm all out of sympathy.
When my H was ill, I went to my Mums. There was no way he was festering on the sofa letting me run around after him. I was also ill, but did I park my backside all weekend???
"ill" men pi$$ me off. *not a sympathetic wife*

Yes AK I had chest infection but he barely acknowledged that and yes he was festering on sofa yesterday!

Unless my H can SEE i'm ill, he just ignores it. I had food poisoning over the weekend, and he was actually really good. When I had my chest infection following a car crash, it was "just a cough". His snotty nose always means he's seconds away from death.
It's the festering that pees me off more than the moaning and snoffing.

Oh dear, men are so bloody dramatic!!

No sympathy from me either. My H has the same head cold as me and has been b!tching and moaning about it all evening, whilst languishing in bed with L and the iPad. I'm busy getting the dishes and bottles sorted, sorting out O for his bedtime and finally having a bath to myself! Drama queens.

Hope he is, erm, better, soon!!
My H is such a wimp when I pander to him! But copes fine alone. That said I did once get a middle of the night voice mail from afghan asking for lemsip urgently.. The post doesn't go urgently to afghan dear!!
Now if he is ill I stock him up on Coca Cola and chocolate and pills, plug his phone charger in so he can watch a film on that and close the bedroom door he always survives. Haha.

no sympathy from me, that sounds very familiar!! My H had a slipped disk and was given exercises to do daily to strengthen his back to make up for the weak spot. He never does them. He has random pains all the times that he thinks are tumours/ulcers/cancer/ebola and then refuses to take painkillers. Funny how these pains are always after he's had a drink or hot sauce!

sorry but this has tickled me. I'm not like this, nor is my OH. I work with someone who is though, drives me batty. He thought he had stomach cancer when in fact it was just trapped wind.

In answer to your question, no
I wonder if he expects more pandering with you being a nurse?
