S has just started walking and so i'm now after some proper shoes for him. He has some soft sole type things, but it's not going to be long before he is walking outside. None of the proper shops seem to have sales on atm, and i'm reluctant to spend £25-£30 on shoes he's not going to be in long. I think i managed to get E's 1st shoes for about £12 in a sale. So i've been looking on Ebay, we've had his feet properly measured at clarks, and he's measured at a 3.5g, and there's a few pairs on there which look like they've hardly been worn.

I would and have, usually as a spare pair but at that size theyre not worn for long anyway. Have you tried the likes of brantano too?

Yes we've tried brantano, but they're still around £20 for a pair. There's a pair of clarks going on ebay atm for 99p +postage and they don't look like they've been worn. It's a big difference.

We're nowhere near shoes yet but yes, I would. Like you say, they're not going to be in them long so the previous owner won't have been either. To buy new it seems a lot of money!
At that age I personally prefer to buy them brand new because although you've had his feet measured, different styles of shoes may or may not suit him. My eldest 2 have wide feet and certain styles of shoes don't suit their feet so I'd rather spend the extra so the shop assistant can check the shoes fit properly. I would buy second hand shoes when children are older and able to tell you how the shoes feel.

I would as long as I were 100% on the size as you are.

Yep, have done, will do again x

Half the fitters dont know how to fit anyway so you're better getting a feel of that stuff yourself.

i would too

Yep, got Isaac measured at Clarkes, got a pair of the same size on eBay for £3.49 including postage, I was passing Clarkes and went in, asked the girl to check his fit (made out that I wasn't sure if he'd grown, I have no shame). I will not do what I did with L (ie be so excited that he's wearing shoes that I buy him 2 pairs at £32 each!) just so he's got a change!! WTAF!

I never have, but if I couldn't afford them or money was short, I would. Its getting hard to get L in Clarks shoes lately, all he wants to wear are trainers

Good boy Liam Clarke's are minging!
Yes i have but not lately when he was little and grew like mad. I sell all his too. Got a pair of Ralph plimsolls ready to ebay.

Ha, but its a struggle to get slippers, Toms, Crocs, anything else on either. Lol
I really don't mind some Clarks TBH.

Yes I have and I do.
I kept a lot of E's old shoes too. Always get them measured first to check size. I buy E's school shoes brand new from Clarks though.

I wouldn't. I don't even like handing them down in the family. Partly I want them to fit correctly, and partly I feel a bit squeamish about used shoes. I drove an hour to a clarks outlet in the summer when I had to get two children's school shoes. I'll have to sell a kidney when E starts too

I have received second hand shoes but haven't bought them IYSWIM?
