Been off over the holidays, half my labelled hand soap is gone (I can't stand the smell of the cheap stuff the company puts in the dispensers and it dries my hands) and someone has helped themselves to the majority of my also named + please do not help yourself labelled butter from the fridge.
I know, first world problems and all that. But IMO it's rude!

I wouldn't, no - I'm never sure if some of the stuff in our office is for general use or not sometimes, so I only use what I know I'm supposed to.
How very rude!

Never, if it was labelled I'd steer clear. How rude.

At first I was thinking, honestly if there was nothing else to use especially hand soap then yes I would use whatever was there, but reading on the fact there is other stuff to use no I wouldn't. Can you send an email to all and politely remind them to not use other peoples stuff that they have purchased with their own money?

Not at all, never would. Very annoying though!

There's too many people to email really, think I might ask HR to do it.
I bought a new tub of Carex just before Christmas, come back today and it's half empty. Keep finding slabs of butter missing from my carton, not just scrapes here and there but whole chunks cut out. I think someone's having a laugh! I might put another passive aggressive note up in the kitchen.

Do you not have a group email?

this used to happen when Luke was in hospital and I was staying in hospital accommodation and we had a shared kitchen. despite us all being parents of critically ill children people still stole food. I think it's just some people's human nature not to care/be bothered by the label, so sending an email or writing notes won't stop them.
I'd make your items less accessible. so lock your hand soap in your drawer when on leave, and put your butter in a plastic container inside a bag inside something else. If people can't get to it quickly then they might think again before using it.

I'd do what Carole suggests. There's a girl in our office put 4 pint carton of milk in the fridge with her name on one lunchtime to take home. It was missing come 5pm, how cheeky
