Working for a large organistation you end up getting roped into charity events - this is all totally new to me
At the end of June our whole company are doing a sponsored Run / Cycle / Walk. It's in a park in London, the whole day will be spent there, with lunch and evening drinks & meal provided - yay! However every employee has to sign up to one of the following:
Run: 8.5 milesCycle: 8.5 milesWalk: 5.5 miles
We are sponsored as follows: €50 per mile per person for running or walking, €10 per mile per person cycling.
Half the guys on my floor are part of a running team, a couple of assistants are walking the rest are cycling. I'm unsure whether to walk or cycle. I've never walked 5miles in my life and I haven't cycled since I was a child, so neither are easy options but I think cycling will be easier....or not?

I would walk

I'd walk. If you're not used to cycling you might get quite sore! Are you going to do any training in advance? I'd love to say I would but in reality I'd not bother! Also you get sponsored more for the walking.

I'd walk too! It'll be fun x

Cycling would take the least time so I would do that but a 5m walk is nothing, should take no longer than an hour. If your not used to cycling I would walk because cycling hurts your bum when your not used to it.

Walking for me, I get clicky knees

You can do one mile in 20 mins depending how fast or slow you walk so 5 miles would not take too long, think of it like you're walking round the shops ;-)

Oh hadn't thought of hurty bum, I was actually thinking if cycling is easier I could maybe do the lap twice but no I'll go with the original plan of walking. I like to walk anyways and if it's nice I'll get me flip flops, vest & shorts out so hopefully I'll catch some rays too!

I'd walk, more sociable easier on the body too, if you can go the 30ds though I bet you have a high fitness level,

Yup, another that would walk - you'd get sponsored more and it's easier than the other options

I would walk, 5m isn't actually that far and you don't need to do any training for that. Sounds like a fun day!

If you've got someone to chat to I'd walk. You probably walk that far without realising it on a good shopping trip or chasing after L at the weekend.

I've signed up to walk. I'm useless with distances and have no idea how far 5miles actually is.
