Has your H told your BIL the money needs to be repaid, or did you buy into the business and that's it?

Did they draw up a contract when your H bought into the business? Can you not approach your BIL about the situation if your H isn't willing to? Or is there someone else in the family who could?

Well if your H has said leave it then that's what youhave to do. It ucks BIG time and I know from experience. But in your shoes I'd leave contact with BIL and family at the bare minimum and rise above it.

Mate you'd be surprised! H's sisters told the police he was a drug dealer whilst he was going through courts to get access to his kids FFS. Families suck.

Don't they? Apart from mine, we'd do anything for each other

I think it's sometimes easier to do what your BIL has done to your H within a family than it would be to a stranger, sadly. You've said already your H doesn't want to pursue it via the legal channels - if he'd taken money from a stranger and then messed them around like this it'd be a totally different story. Could your H not imply that's what he's going to do though to guilt him into giving some back?
BIL is taking the p*ss, and it sounds like he knows it. Shame the family aren't helping you at all either. Only thing it sounds like you're going to come away from this with is the knowledge never to do the same again!

That's so shitty, I can't believe families can treat each other like that! Your H may not want to cause a family rift, but it seems like your BIL isn't so bothered! Not sure what the best thing to do is, but hope you H finds a new job very soon. x

Thanks all. I could cry for my H, I really could.
