my H and I have been discussing the disable toilet in work. We have no one who "needs" to use it yet someone has been, and more to the point they have been leaving a mess. So I decided to remove the tissue, soap and hand towels to try to stop it being used. Basically to save me the job of cleaning it every day!
Well the person continued to use it! I assumed it was a man but we have just worked out its a female, young girl at that. I am totally disgusted!
And I have no idea how I stop her!

The disabled toilet in our office is also the ladies only downstairs toilet and since I'm the only female who works downstairs it's the one I use, although some of the men decide it's where they'll have a dump some days and it's disgusting! Also a PITA for me since I then have to walk up the stairs to the other one for the rest of the day I've got the admin lady to send an email about it in the past to remind them it's a ladies toilet (there are no disabled people who work or ever visit here), but it only stopped it for a short time.

errrr thats not what i needed to read over my porridge!

I really don't know how to stop her - other than putting a lock on it. Though I'm not sure that's legal! My H thinks I should deal with it because she's female, whereas I say he should because he hired her lol

can you do it via email so not to cause too much embarrassment
17/04/2013 at 09:10
I think I need to try a general "please don't use" email to all our staff and take it from there. Fingers crossed that works!

Definitely send an email. I used to send ones like "Please leave the toilets (disabled included) clean as you would like to find them. I do not appreciate having to clean up the mess I've just discovered in there. If it continues I will have to monitor use to establish those leaving a mess. Thank You"
Usually embrasses people for a short period of time.

I'd say that was the best idea! Says it without having the awkwardness!

Thanks Belle. Ill go for wording like that.
It's normally kids using the gents that's the problem but this is just plain disgusting!

Belle's wording sounds good, could you also mention that the disabled toilets are intended just for disabled people so shouldn't be used by any of the staff since they aren't disabled?

We have put signs up in our toilets at work asking people to use the bins for rubbish and to leave the toilets clean and tidy as they would wish to find them. I can not stand bad toilet manners
Oh and yes you can lock the door, just put a sign on it that says "key available from Lavender Rose"

CW ill try that if the email doesn't help. I have no idea why she's even using it - it's directly opposite the ladies! She actually walks past the nearest ladies to get to the disabled!
17/04/2013 at 09:52
Ugh what is wrong with her?!
17/04/2013 at 10:01
She's using it cos she needs a big dirty turd

Judging by the mess I think you're right!

It's well known at everywhere iv worked that the disabled toilet is the 'poo' toilet so I assume she's heard that rule too , I don't think you are allowed to lock it but I'd put signs up saying not to leave it a mess and send emails too! Tbh I'd specifically say you found a mess in the disabled toilet and whilst its fine to use it it should be left clean! Iv just thought that if you have removed soap tissue etc wtf has she used? She prob hadnt washed her hands
