    Hello all,

I am totally new to this but trying to get my head around things before I start my first IVF cycle in September. I have had some problems with my cervix scarring over after I had an operation on it last year. My consultant has advised that I try IVF as it is impractical in his opinion to continue to dilate my cervix every few months as we're doing at the moment.

Because I have a dodgy cervix he feels that a short protocol would be best for me (something to do with lack of estrogen making things worse I think), and I will only be able to have a single embryo transferred, hopefully a blastocyst, as it is unlikely that I could carry a multiple pregnancy.

I am hoping this approach will work well for me. I am 26 with no other problems (as far as I am aware) apart from with my cervix. My DH's sperm is fine.

Has anyone any experience or advice to share? :\?

    Thanks,

    Sarah xx

Just wanted to say Hi! I'm not in your position, but on our first (and hopefully last) round of IVF. In fact, just had my embryo's put back in this morning!

It sounds like your consultant has put some thought into this, I take it the spem cant get through your cervix due to the scaring? Everyone is different, but I have not found the physical side of IVF too bad, the emotional side can be pretty hard. However, you are not new to your fertility problem, and you have no other problems, so if the time feels right for you - go for it. My advice would be to get some good quality books on the subject so you know what to expect and whether its for you. And also find some ways of making it easier on you - massage, reflexology, accupuncture etc, so that you can also relax and enjoy that time. This forum is also great, with lots of supportive ladies.

Any questions - just ask xxx

Hi Lori, thanks so much for your reply - I am rooting for you, hope your little ones are getting comfy for a nine month slumber party!

Yes, my problem is a basic plumbing one I think. My cervix seems to be the main problem, which my consultant thinks can be overcome by IVF.

I have just ordered Zita West's relaxation and visualisation CDs to see me through the process and to help (hopefully) keep me sane. Also shopping around for a good book.

Can't decide whether to try acupuncture or not as I have heard mixed reviews as to whether it helps.

    Massive hugs,

    Sxxx
