Hi there I'm due on the 10th July so only a week to go and the head has been engaged for ages but not ready to come as yet....although I have had period pains at the bottom of my back and I suddenly want to go to the toilet alot!!.

Has anyone got any ideas on how to get things moving apart from the spicy currys and the rampant sex... I have heard that pineapple gets you started.....? I am currently drinking an odd cup of raspberry leaf tea it doesn't taste that bad just look gross...

    Has anyone got any advise?

    :\?

Hi. I tried curries, sex, oral is meant to be better than intercourse as the prostaglandin hormones are absorbed better....but who feels like giving a blow job when you're about to pop!!?? You can get Raspberry leaf tablets (from Holland and Barratt), fresh pineapple, clary sage oil in the bath, try massaging your uterus reflex point which is by the knobbly ankle bone on the inside of your leg, just put your thumb next to the knobbly bit towrrds the back of the heel and massage with your thumb (hope that makes sense.
I've got to say I tried all of these methods from when I was 37 weeks pregnant and he didn't come until 2 days past my due date!!!

I am absolutely not an expert, but i really believe the only way we can influence the start of labour is by doing things that are considered 'dangerous' in late pregnancy, and that's why no-one recommends you do them. For example, going without any food or drink for a day will bring on labour - but would you want to do that to your baby? Instead, I would suggest you do tons of housework, preferably clean the floor on your hands and knees, and go for as brisk a walk as you can. No guarantees of course but I cleaned my carpets on the day child 1 was born, and it convinced me.

Yea, get cleaning, keep busy and take long walks.
A hot curry and a bus journey at the top of a double decker bus over speed bumps got me going with my first lol!

I was told eating dates would help - it didn't but you could try it. pineapple, spicy food, sex, raspberry tea, long brisk walks are the other things that always get suggested.

    Hiya

I terrified about going for a brisk walk; I've developed a bit if a phobia about my waters breaking in public
All my friends & hubby are at work during the day so I have no choice other than to walk on my own & I've made myself so paranoid that I'm going to be walking along and suddenly GUSH & it looks like I've pee'd myself!

Sorry to butt in, I'll go back to my own weird little world now!

    Good luck xx

i have to say i think sex did it for me, we did it twice the night before i had my lo, but he enters from behind sorry if tmi, but that seemed to wor k for us, i had no signs of labour at all before that night, and was booked in for a sweep on heh saturday, but tuesday night i went to bed with really bad backache then woke up around 12am with pains every 5 minutes, by 1.45am i knew i was in labour & i had my baby on Wednesday! Em & Noah xx (p.s the oral sex one is rubbish, that was made up by a bloke!! the hormones need to go to the cervix not your tummy!!my oh tried to tell me that one i was having none of it!! & neither was he!! )

Em mate, you're wrong - MW concluded yesterday that oral is 200% more effective - they've been given the proof now and its been provided in their most recent medical journal. Still rather eat my own shit tho.

Ackers - All I can say is I've tried absolutely everything (other then sex coz my OH's a bastard and won't give me it, castor oil coz I don't need help in giving me the shits and oral as above, I'd rather eat my own shit) and I'm 2 days overdue.

I'm just starting to come to terms with the philosophy that baby comes when babys ready - I know.........how effing inconsiderate
