Thought I'd start a new thread and see if there are any ladies who are planning a home birth on here, it seems to have got less popular again, I'm hoping that I'll have my second home delivery with this baby, anyone else thinking about it?

Yes I am. With my 1st I had a very straight forward birth in a mid wife led centre but didn't get the water birth I wanted. Wish someone had suggested home birth to me. I'm now 20 weeks pregnant & everything is still going fine so not reason not to think I won't get my home birth. I've got quite a few friends who've had home births who I'm hoping to get advice from. How far along are you Mrsboysmum?

I'm only about 8 weeks, but I just though I'd start a thread about it early on lol.
I had one home birth and it was amazing, hope I'll be able to have another this time, I definitely recommend it to anyone who has had an easy first birth, although my first one in hospital was very traumatic, that's why I went for home second time x x

Sorry, just realised I never came back to this thread (the email me button never works!!). I'm due tomorrow (although I have a feeling that he's gonna be late), any tips to help my home water birth go smoothly?
Think I've got everything ready!

I had my home water birth in the early hours of yesterday morning (5th Nov) & it was fab. I got to guide my son out of the water by myself in my own home whilst my daughter slept through & the midwives were there to support but were very hands off. I would thoroughly recommend it!

I really wanted a home birth with my first but unfortunately it wasn't to be and ended up in hospital after some worrying growth scans (but everything turned out to be fine).
This time I'm determined to get the home birth I've always wanted! Can't wait!

When are you due MrsH?

Due in July - am 4 weeks today so very early days
My DD is also July, so quite possibly there could be 2 years between them to the day !

The whole growth scan & personal growth chart thing is ridiculous. My son was on the 90th line on my personal growth chart but then I had to have a growth scan (at 35 weeks) as his growth had dropped down a centile line! Scan showed he was on 50th line & it turns out he is 75th line (born 13 days after due date) so neither was correct. It's a shame you didn't get your home birth but really hope you get yours this time as I really can't recommend it enough!

At home a woman can labor and birth in the privacy and comfort of the familiar surroundings of her own home, surrounded by loved-ones. in whatever position and attire she finds most comfortable. One of my friends gained a good experience regarding this using a doula
