    Hi there,
I havent been on the forum for ages but I know how much it helps when you need advice. I have SPD and was in hos 2 wks ago for morpheine and codeine because I got so bad I couldnt even go to loo without my OH taking me there. I was on pain killers for 1 week then I had an internal done and the MId wife said i was dilated 2-3cms and the baby's head was engaged. I went into labour that day (wed) and I've had a show and diorhea and been contracting on and off since then really. I've had another sweep yesterday and the contractions are stronger but they wont admit me to hos. I came off the codeine as well as I've read it can prolong labour. I'm now back to square one and have awful back pain and can hardly move about. Has anyone had a prolonged labour like this. I've also got Strep B so I'm unsure about whether there is a higher risk of the baby getting an infection now that the cervix is open and dilating, PLease if anyone has had a similar experience I'd really appreciate some advice. Do I stick this out or push for induction??

If you've got StrepB surely it's in ur baby and ur interests to be monitored in hospital as u will need a dose or 2 of antibiotics. I would say it's worth while getting hold of the labour ward and remind them about the StrepB.

lol, just read time of ur post so hope ur in hospital getting the help u need hun! wish you luck xx

    Hi Joanna,
If you are positive for Group strep B then you need IV anti-biotics during labour otherwise you can pass on the bacterial infection to your baby as they travel down the birth canal.

From what I understand, you need IV antibiotics from the onset of labour until the baby is born. I would have said that you being 3cm dilated is enough evidence for you to be in labour regardless of how slow it is.

And as Mille says, lets hope you are already in hospital, if not get yourselves down there and refuse to move until you get the treatment you deserve.

    Take care
    Charlotte

Thanks so ,much, I have just rung the hospital and they said until i start to labour again not to go in. Because my waters havent broken there is no immediate danger to the baby. They have also said that if I get a temperature then i need to go in as well. The mid wife at the hospital kept saying this was normal and that it can go on for days. I just cant beleive labour can last this long. I have never heard of this and am gutted, I was prepared for just about anything to happen during labour but not for it to be going on for this long.
I'm so sore now and cant sleep. The hos mid wife has sad to go in to be assessed tomorrow. I really hope they agree to break my waters or induce me.
    Thanks again.
