was just wondering if any of u know if they can give certain injections at home births?

during my last labour (hospital), i was very sick and got an anti-sickness injection, which helped, and was wondering whether or not theyd be abke to give them at home births?

also, do they give the placenta-helper injection?!! (cant remeber its name!!)

obviously im not talking about pethidine or meptid, thast would be silly, but i was unsure about the others. xx

Hi, yes they do the placenta injection thingy! You can have pethidine also, either the midwives have it or if they don't carry it you get it prescribed from your GP in advance and the midwives will administer if you need it. I don't know if they carry other things I assume they have a bit of a toolkit, best just to ask your midwife. x

I had the placenta inducing injection I'm sure I did at the home birth... I can't remember! Just asked DH and DD1 and they don't remember either PML but I know I delivered it pretty quick so I must have had it!!
I had gas and air but no other injections until after when one of them went off to get one from GP I presume of Linacane (sp??) so they could stitch me up after I tore.

    hi

yes to syntometrine - placenta helping thingy, altho u might not need it

yes and no to pethidine - in my area the doctor will not prescribe it to be used by the midwife but in some areas they do

i think i asked about antisickness as i was convinced i was going to be very sick (i wasnt at all sick!) and asked in advance and i think they can but i would ask to be sure

i had to have stitches and they carried the local injection as a matter of course

    good luck

I didn't have any injections at all. But your nausea just reminded me that I managed to throw up lucozade sport down the midwife's cleavage! No warning, didn't feel sick at all, then woosh. Poor woman. I found it hilarious! lol
