I had the same option as you and I chose the maternity ward. I just found it comforting knowing that I was in the place with the highest level of care and fast access to anything that may be needed in an emergency.
I was put in the midwife unit initially due to a mix up and to be honest, I preferred the hospital ward. The room was bigger and had a bath whereas the midwife unit just had a shower room.

I choose the midwife led centre last time, mine was attached to a hospital too which I found reassuring. My main concern was that not all the rooms had pools which I really wanted. Luckily I got to use the room with the pool but then that meant that there were no plug sockets to play my music. The room was quite nice, plenty big enough but I didn't like hearing lots of alarms going off.
This time I'm planning a home birth so I definitely get a pool (it's up already!), get to listen to my music & have a one to one midwife (I had a student last time for most of the time who didn't notice that I was pushing far earlier than I should've done).
I would say start in the midwife led & if you feel you need more interventions you can transfer to the labour ward. Although only you know what you felt more comfortable.
