Advice Please!

Hiya ladies,

I could do with a bit of advice please!

My daughter Dee is six months old and is making no effort to sit up. She has just started crawling and sill quite happily stand but does not want to sit. when shes sat on some ones knee she sits stright up back straight and will sit happily in a blow up play ring, but when you try to sit her on her own she just wobbles and slumps down. With her now crawiling I assumes the sitting would have come 1st. Any advice how I can encourige her to sit alone?

My Matilda didn't sit till about 9 months.She was a roller,or she'd lay  on her back playing.Like you say,she'd sit on someone's lap,but if I sat her on the floor,she's just fall down.

Maybe your little one's just not ready.Some babies are sitting  before 6 months ,some not till long after.Don't worry she'll get there in her own time.

There's no set order for these things,they just do it when they 're ready.With the fact she's crawling,she'll be strengthening her muscles as she goes.The sitting ring thing probably helps too.

yeah i agree with the girls she'll do it when she's good and ready but if you'd feel happier with encouraging her a bit more then keep putting her in the play ring or for charlie i sat him propped up with cushions from our sofa whilst he was playing on the floor and another great buy me and alot of my friends have used is a bumbo which is a little seat which i used to sit charlie in whilst he had snacks etc.......don't worry tho hun she will do it when she's good and ready also i've known children who have gone straight from sitting to walking and have missed out the rolling,crawling etc, they all different and do things in their own way

my bumbo lives under the buggy for picnic trips, stops madam eating so much grass, just wish they didnt have to con you out of the extra £10 for the tray!!!

we had a sit me up cosy, was useless so i sent it back saying i had two and stuck with the basic ring which is fab!

Oh I agree with the others,all babies develop so differently and reach milestones at such different rates. The bumbo was fab with my eldest son,however the little man is/was so fat his chunky lil thighs were bit squashed in it!!!! So with him,he didn't use it so much,and took him til over 9mnths to sit or crawl,he's on his feet now,but wont let go of anyones hand-my eldest was walking by now.

But they all get there in the end x

Matilda's only  just walking now,at nearly 18 months.Erin was 10 months when she walked.

The sit me up cosy,is that the ELC one that's velcro'd together and falls apart when they sit in it.I really wanted one of those for Arwen,so my Mum got it for Christmas for her when she was tiny.Not any good as a sitting ring at all,very disappointed.
