Max is 9 months old and has been on solids for months now however I would like to try him on some spicier foods/different flavours etc instead of just plain chicken, veg etc.
But I'm not too sure which spices I can and cannot use in my cooking.
Does anyone have any recipes I can try out?
I just introduced them to whatever we eat, rather than make something separate, that way we can do family mealtimes. If you save a little bit of what you eat, keep it in the fridge overnight for Max's lunch the next day. That way he'll become accustomed to the kind of food you eat in your house.
We do curries, spicy food, and I'm a huge garlic fan,but it's not everyone's cup of tea.Harry was weaned on curry and other spicy food, obviously I was sensible about how hot things were, but I think you just have to try a few things out yourself.
If it suits you better to cook separate meals, try the Annabel Karmel books,or her website if you don't want to buy a recipe book.
ive not tried spices but annabel karmel recipes use no end of herbs, think your pretty safe with most things, unless they blow your head off lol, any kind of thing in particular ive got a ton of recipes, we havent done curry yet, but lola, 7mnths, stole some of her brothers chili con carne, she loved it, and that was made with a colmans spice mix xxx,
I wanted to just give him smaller portions of what we have for dinner but i was worried about the amount of salt in things like the sharwoods curry pastes or colemans packets.
do you think it would matter if he only had a small amount?
Most of the sauces and packet mixes are reasonably easy to make yourself.
It's easy to use a packet mix for things you can easily do with a bit of practice and a recipe book or two where necessary. That way you're in complete control of salt, sugar and anything else
