my ds was born 6 weeks early by emergency c-section as i had severe pre-eclampsia. he weighed 4lb 11oz and apart from some initial breathing problems did really well. he was in a fish tank for 1 week and had phototheraphy treatment for jaundice. he finally came out of the neo-natal unit after 2 weeks. he is 10 months old now and weighs 22lb. you'd never believe he was a premmie!

hi sarahlou, i too had my son 6 weeks early by emergency c-sec due to eclampsia, [ i fitted before and after his birth] the hospital kept him in scbu for 10 days but only because i was in itu, he was 4lb 1/2oz but perfectly healthy, he is 5 now and you would never guess he was a prem, in fact he is healthier than most children only ever gets a cold or two a year, im so lucky.

he is soooooo cute! having a prem makes them even more special doesnt it! ive got ethans first set of prem clothes in a boxed frame onthe wall. The vest is the size of my palm. i cant ever believe he was that small! its true prem babies do seem to be healthier. ethans only had 1 cold, no reaction to any jabs and his first tooth just popped through without any hint it was on its way.

My little boy was six weeks early. I went into spontaneous labour at 33 weeks and they managed to hold it off with drugs for a few days. He was 4lb at birth and was in ITU for three weeks. He is two now and still underweight but otherwise healthy and very happy. Did anyone else find that the prem clothes were very baggy on their babies? I don't think manufacurers take into consideration that prems don't have the fat laid down that full term babies do. And the micro nappies were too big and leaked!

Our little angel arrived 10 weeks early and spent 7 weeks in SCBU..she is doing very well, consistently putting on weight and starting to smile which is just adorable...does anybody have any advice for me regarding clothing..she is fitting early baby clothes right to the edges, but the next size up - tiny baby is far too big!! Where is the best place to get clothes for her that might actually fit properly??

have you tried the boots - mini mode range. they start from 3lb clothing upwards and unlike high street brands dont swamp them.

Thanks for the suggestion!! We will definitely give them a try..managed to get some clothes that fit better from M&S so we are getting there...she is now 5lbs 15oz and growing every day it seems!
