Hi All
I have rather a long winded problem but here goes.
My little girl is 8 and a half months old. I began weaning at 5 months and she was exclusively breast fed until then. At 5 months, she started going to a child minder during the day as I had to return to work. While she is at the child minders, she has formula from a bottle and she has breakfast, lunch and dinner (usually) with no problem. When she comes home, I breast feed her before she goes to bed and when she wakes up during the night/in the morning.
Problem 1 - she has started to protest when I give her food at the weekends as per the routine that she has at the child minders. At times, it has become a battle which I don't want to happen as I want her to enjoy her meals. She was a bit better whe we ate as a family and tends to be interested in the finger foods that I give her and our meals, but shuts her mouth tight and screams when I try to give her pureed meals. I know she takes these fine at the child minder's. I am just not sure she is getting enough to eat at home and her weight has always been an issue. Am I worrying too much?
Problem 2 - Although she takes a bottle at the child minders, she will not take one at home (even for her Dad). This means that I have to breast feed her at the weekends. I would like to reduce breast feeding but do not see how I can as she screams if we give her a bottle at home and the weekend ends up with her crying most of the time and me and her Dad getting really stressed and upset. Has anyone got any tips? I am trying to offer a formula feed at meals and before a breast feed but am not sure if it is going to work. As I say, her weight has always been an issue so I do tend to get worried if she misses a feed.
