they do see you less. But dont worry if your already 12 weeks then the worst is over well the most dangerous part anyway. But dont worry to much if you are concerned either try and move your appointment earlier or pop in to a local childrens centre or health cente some have midwife drop in services for check ups without appointments.

Hello Ems and welcome to PP

I'm Tasha and Have ethan whos 3 and Amber 19 months

I was quite shoced at the diffence in prenatal care between my 2 pregnancies and the midwife explained that it wasn't so much to do with it being my 2nd child as they have simply cut down on how many times you get seen now!

Good luck with your scan tomorrow, let us know how it goes

hope you're feeling well xx

I have heard that they see you far less in subsequent pregnancies unless you are high risk because they think you know what you are doing, and what to look out for. Good luck with the scan, hope you get a lovely picture. I wasnt allowed a scan pic at the 12 week scan as the hospital dont allow them until 20 weeks. xx

Hi Ems,

Welcome to pp, I'm lucy, mum to ben,2, and one due in March..

I didn't book in til 10weeks here and they told me off as they like to have all the bloods sent off by then, but think it varies all over the place! It's standard to have 2 scans - the 12 week nuchal scan and then the 20 week anomaly scan, and you only usually get further scans if you're high risk, or they're concerned about low lying placentas, bleeding etc..

I have a lovely community midwife this time round who I've seen twice so far (am 23 weeks on monday), but they tend to leave you to it unless you have concerns.. think my next appt is at the end of the month.

I think you should be able to get a pic of your 12 week scan wherever you are, but sometimes they ask a fee to cover the scan paper.. seems mean they didn't give you one Karen!

Hi Ems

Welcome to PP

Glad your scan went well. In my area we get different midwife schedules in first pregnancies compared to subsequent pregnancies, unless you had any kind of complications in previous pregnancies. It's at the discretion of the midwife.

I have never seen a doc with regard to my pregnancy. We also get 2 routine scans, unless you have any issues!

Looking forward to seeing the scan pic!!
