Sally OMG its twins

Hi all...

I had been experiencing dizzy spells, they were unexplainable, first time it happened I was sat on the toilet, about an hour after breakfast, i hadnt been over exerting myself, my vision went funny into a type of tunnel vision, and my ears started ringing, my blood presure dropped and my temporature went up. it took me a good 20 mins to recover, the second time it happened i was sat in a cafe, had been for about 1 1/2 hours had eaten and drank in that time, but the same thing happened again. from then on the only thing that will stave off an attack is eating ice. My midwife checked my blood, then i was prescribed iron tablets. I was told that they could cause constipation. but my poo just went black and hard (TMI i know but need to check) so i stopped taking them to the prescribed amount. Now, i've had the dizzy spells follwed by being violently ill, projectile you could say. When i was sick before it was to half the strength and amount, now it feels like a fire hose has been turned on and its coming from my bowel too.

Has any one else experienced this, should i resume full dose of my tablets, is this going to get worse as i go through the last 6/7 weeks of my pregnancy, or is it just cos im carrying twins that it seems worse. I didnt have any of these symptoms with my first pregnancy.

Cheers
Sally

Hi Sally.
I was on iron tablets before and after the birth last summer. I suffer from very low blood pressure too which was the cause of my faints and dizzyness. I was ok on the iron tablets not consipated. I would just get checked out by the doctor hun just to check that your symptoms are normal for you.You may need a different type of iron tablet that doesn't give you nasty symptoms. It maybe just because you are carrying twins and even Morning sickness/heartburn could be back with avengence. My heartburn just made me sick soooo much i couldn't wait for my baby to come out.Take it easy, rest if you can (not easy if you have other kids)and i hope you feel better soon.

Hi hun
I was also on the iron tablets and had the same effect but always stuck to the dosage as i hate to say it but thats why they give you a dosage so your levels arenormal.
I have suffered aniema since childhood and no other method of iron worked for me as i gave me violent nose bleeds so i stoped taking anything all together but was worried sick when i fell pregnant as you need the iron, when i had my 1st check my iron levels were above normal and my gp couldnt work it out but it was fine till i hit 30+weeks the it dropped.
I no you might not like what it does but believe me it helps.Stick at it and your bundles may be early anyway so you and them need it.
Good luck, all the best for a safe arrival fo them both
Emma xx
