Hi Mummies

Practical Parenting is looking for birth stories (under 1yr old please) where the birth plan was completely scrapped on the day!

Ideally, we'd love to hear stories that fit the following:

1)you planned on lots of pain relief and ended up doing it with none
2)you wanted no pain relief but took the whole shebang;
3)you planned a c-section - but the baby came early!
4)you were set for a birthing centre birth, but had to be rushed to hospital.

If you could email me on the address below with just a line or two to sum up your story, that would be wonderful. :0)

Yes!Grace (3) came in 5 1/2 hours, didn't even have time to set up TENS as also 2 weeks early! Stated on birth plan that I wanted to be active, but actually found it hard to talk let alone walk!
Jack (1) decided to come 4 weeks early. had home birth planned but due to being pre 38 weeks I had to go to hospital. 2 hrs 50mins after waking up he was born! What happened to my relaxing chilled out home birth?! No pain relief at all though so I shouldn't complain!

Hi Mandy - thanks so much for contacting me! Could you email me on racheldelahaye@yahoo.com.au so I can get in touch directly. If it goes forward into the birth stories I'm going to need lots more gory details! Yay! We love birth stories!

Thanks

Hi,

My birth plan went out of the window! I planned to only have gas and air, listen to music, maybe do a crossword between contractions and have a water birth. In fact, everything happened so fast and was so painful (seemed to be no break between contractions) that I could do nothing but lie on the bed - I even forgot I was wearing the tens machine because I couldn't even feel it at this point! My daughter was so eager to come out that she was born 'on the caul' - my waters never broke, they had to be broken after she was born.

Thanks
Becky
