Hi

I wonder if any one can help? My 2 yo daughter has chicken pox (along with every other child near to where I live) and they are particularly bad near her genital area which seems to be causing her quite a bit of discomfort. Does any one know how I can help her - I've tried the usual calamine lotion etc but because of the area it's just rubbing off on her pants and irritating her when she goes to the toilet

Apart from that she is in really good health and they chicken pox has hardly affected her

Thanks

P.S I've just noticed that she might have one on her tongue - is that normal????

I'm so sorry to hear you little one has got really bad chicken pox. I can sympathise with you as my little girl had them badly about a year ago. I found sitting her in a warm shallow bath with a heaped lidful of bicarb of soda helped to ease the itching. She would have one about 3 times a day. She also had them on her tongue, throat in and around her eyes. It really is nasty. The other thing I found was that they scarred badly. Using a good moisturiser will help once they have healed over.

Hope she recovers soon.

Zoe xx

Hi Hun
I'd take her to the doctor hun or ask the h/v about having pox near her bits. Sounds quite nasty for her.
When my sister had them age 22 she had them in her mouth and around her eyes and eyelids. It was quite bad.
Poor lo i hope she gets better soon hun.

Jimmers had a huge one on his tongue and he has an odd round scar on it now.

He also had lots around his bits and they looked so sore. We mostly let him be naked and put a soft sheet on the sofa for him to lie on.

It was a nightmare getting calomine lotion on him though - he hated it because it was cold and I had to warm it in a bowl of water first!

Hi bet

You can get calomine in a cream,i always keep mine in the fridge to keep it cool.It works well and you lay it on thick.

Welcome and hope it clears soon.

xx
